Alubottle easier to open with cup removed?

What has everyone's experience been with unscrewing the cap of the Alubottle? I seem to get better grip if I remove the cup first.

I keep shell on, turn it upside down and put one hand on bottom., other on shell/cap and crank. Its a lil smaller in diameter. With my small hands, i get a better grip this way...
