Kava Preparation What's your kava ritual?

Well I like breakfast kava, then evening kava. And then there is 'for a meeting' kava

How many kava drinkers have you "converted"?

I'll vouch for that! I have managed to convert precisely 0. Tried, but it just ended up in jokes about my 'mud smoothie,'

    Kava Preparation Potato mashin’ makas

Well my hand strength is not great, especially as I have a lot of pretty hardware inside my wrist, but I find that time soaking plus gentle working it is good. I am not rigid on timing, do believe in the hot water, and push it to washes far beyond the usual. So what if I have more water than...

Best ways to avoid getting dehydrated on kava

I also use lots of ice and make sure I always have water with me. I just need to focus on getting it earlier in the day. I also drink a lot of yerba maté which I keep topping up with water so it gets ever more dilute.

    newbie here.. aluball anyone?

Aluball all the way, double balls, protective plastic layer on the top to make them last longer, save the makas and freeze and then when you have accumulated enough of that do the bag and kneading for some nice batches of mongrel grog.

    Canopy kava

I have tried it and liked it. Took a bit, backed off and stopped. But sip a bit and wait. As a relative newbie to the kava world I have only had one (maybe 2) experiences where I should not have had that. Did not have that with the Vanuwaka. But it was stronger than my preference. Which does...

    Is warm water necessary?

I use and Aluball and cold (but not run to very cold) tap water. I usually drink with ice and a bombilla. The Makas gets saved for trad prep with hot water. Best of all worlds.

    Canada Border Services

Herbal tea? Canadians are used to the customs games, and we regard bypassing them rather as a national sport, but suppliers can't take risks, and must label honestly. When I lived in Canada, it was an easy drive to a rural border, just over which was a little shop which did a roaring business...

What is the kavalactone content of prepared kava + discussion on prep methods

I am a fan of the aluball for two washes (pondering a weak third), and then the makas is saved, compiled and trad prepped - Krunkie's method. The later washes are by far my favourite. And if I end up with silt at the bottom I don't want to mix in, it gets dried in the sun to flakes that then...

    Increased tolerance for loud environments

I do find my music tolerance (and noise tolerance) does shift with kava. In a good way. But more than that I find that I can handle people chaos much better. As in it is not the noise but the fact that there are a bunch of people making that noise I have to be around for work or play or other...

    Kava and medical anxiety

It was just that i think she had not assisted with many office procedures, and although I could not see her face I think she got a wee bit queasy. :woot: I of course was fine ::chugger::

    Kava and medical anxiety

Well I want to give kava a thorough recommendation for medical procedural anxiety. Yesterday I had by office procedure a big bunch of fat cut out of my face (as in a benign tumor). I got the one doc in town (ex-military) willing to do it as an office procedure. I walked in clutching my...

    Kava and dark spirits

Good grief Krunkie, that was a very strange url. You do know how to find them. For a moment I thought it was a collection of historical material, but nooo! They seem to be talking about something totally different from the kava I know and love. Sipping on Dua Na Bilo (one of my favorites) now...

Do any of you drink coffee along side your daytime kava?

Well, I am currently having some mixed late washes made from an assortment of Makas alongside a morning cup of coffee. Going to be a busy day and this mellow / mild kava along with just a bit of coffee has me feeling set up for the day. I am another who finds that my coffee cravings go way down...

    Best kava for pain killing

I have heard that as well, but will have to wait till I have some pain to try it. Hopefully will be a while before I have that opportunity

    Best kava for pain killing

I fully endorse the Savusavu recommendation - having had surgery for a badly broken arm (and coincidentally having also broken a leg) that grog let me throw the prescription pain meds away!

New to Forum and newish to Kava

Hi, I have been drinking kava for a bit over a year, and it has become a mainstay of my life. Having worked my way through forcing it down mixed with almond milk, to washing down with ginger beer, to now where I now just love it straight and carry a bottle around to sip on most of the day...
