Selling 3 1kg unopened bags of The Kava Society Palarasul

Bula all! I have 3 1kg unopened bags of Palarasul from The Kava Society that I bought right at the start of the pandemic to stock up. Unfortunately, shortly thereafter I realized that kava had been causing a worsening of my allergy symptoms and have had to stop drinking it. Which is really a...

False Positive for MDMA after taking kava

The kavalactone methysticin shares the methylenedioxy moiety with MDMA (look at how the left side of the methysticin and MDMA molecule in the Wikipedia images look the same). I don't know which metabolites they test for for MDMA but this could be a potential explanation for the false positive...

Is it really necessary to take breaks from kava ?

I've noticed a bit of lethargy, but not depression. What it is is the long-lasting kavalactones building up in your body to the point where you're in a semi-permanent state of krunk or rooted or whatever we want to call it. But the longest-lasting kavalactones are the "heaviest" ones so you have...

Kava Side Effects Kava's effect on environmental allergies

So awhile back I posted a thread about how I had been having allergic-type reactions after kava sessions that got bad enough that I took a break for several weeks. At first I was thinking I was developing an allergy to kava itself but then I noticed that the reaction was worse when my baseline...

Can I try KAVA again ?

Kava seems to potentially activate mast cells, which could be behind the rash-like allergic reactions and potentiation of alcohol flush reaction in some people: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1002/ptr.4652 I am taking a break from kava at the moment after a few instances of kava...

    Kava Physiology Mild kava allergies?

No dietary changes. Possibly extra stress; I was feeling a bit of extra stress yesterday (which is partially why I went for the kava) but not too much. I am also prone to allergies and chronic nasal inflammation from pollen which I manage with antihistamines as needed. Never been tested though...

    Kava Physiology Mild kava allergies?

I found this study which found that aqueous kava preparations, but not isolated kavalactones, can cause mast cell degranulation in vitro. I wonder if this is coming into play, and what might influence why some sessions, and not others, seem to trigger a response...

    Kava Physiology Mild kava allergies?

Well this is really weird. After having had smooth and problem-free sessions for awhile, my yesterday kava session seemed to trigger a histamine-type reaction again. (Nasal congestion, eye irritation, facial flushing) This is really frustrating. :(

Kava Society NZ Kelai single cultivar

Mine arrived today! Running on a bit low sleep today so I'm not in the mood for a super heady kava, but I'll definitely try it tomorrow. Palarasul is great. Depending on how I like the Kelai I might have to go stock up with another kilo of that or Palarasul. It's by far the most pleasant-tasting...

    Kava Recipe Kava Shake Recipe

I find it so funny that the recipe is written as if kava is just an ingredient for flavoring, and they say that drinking too much give you side effects. And following that link, they say the "side effects" are: > For the next hour we had tingly mouths, light sensitivity, and a boost of energy...

    Health concerns

Just curious, what kind of effects and benefits do you feel/get from the b. caapi vine? How does it compare to kava? As far as the traditional ayahuasca brew I believe the caapi serves mostly to make DMT orally active. But it is an MAOI, as are some kavalactones, so I imagine caapi on its own...

    Kavalactone properties and description

Interesting. I was always under the impression that DHK was more sedating than M. And kavas with 42---- (like Borogu) usually feel more sedating to me than ones that start 46---- (like Mo'i). (Though this doesn't necessarily have to relate to the chemotype.) But if DHK is qualitatively like a...

Yeah, go for it! I might dig up the pharmacology references again too and update this post.

    Kavalactone properties and description

Here's what I've gathered from my research: 1. desmethoxyyangonin - "mystery kavalactone". Generally the scarcest of the 6 kavalactones in most kava root and not much is known about its effects or pharmacology. 2. dihydrokavain (DHK) - "heavy" kavalactone. Effects include sedation, muscle...

How has quitting Kava affected you?

I took a break for a little while and my skin definitely got less dry. Other than that, nothing.

    Papa Kea Pics

Is the Papa Kea less heavy than the Mahakea? That one can be a bit on the heavy end for me, but I find that a 3:1 mix of Mo'i and Mahakea is excellent.

    Newbie here

Anything from Kalm with Kava is an excellent choice. Loa Waka is a quintessential "balanced" kava with a bit of both "heavy" and "heady" effects. If you want more of the heavy, sedated, melt-in-the-couch vibe, try Borongoru. For a lighter, more euphoric and upbeat (but still relaxing)...
