For those of us in California or maybe just visiting, here is a short list of little Polynesian/Pacific Island markets that sell kava root from their stores:

Note: $27 per pound. Fiji Waka. This is the only store I can vouch for personally. Good strong stuff, but heavy, and occasionally questionable.

Regarding Saudagar, they get their Waka and Lawena from Savu Savu in Fiji.
Also, they grind their Kava fresh daily.

You're near Anaheim @shakas? I'm not too far from you - down in south OC - close to Laguna Beach and not too far from Oceanside either.

Yup, LA/OC here...spent a lot of time in Laguna, the only good beaches in CA as far as I'm concerned. Never got down to that Samoan place in Oceanside, maybe you could swing by and let me know what you think of their kava.

Oh so true! The coastline down this way is just so beautiful and so many different beaches to visit. Definitely will try and get down to Oceanside at some point
