Curious: Why vegetable oil and not coconut oil?

Kava Curious
Perhaps a total newbie question, but I'm curious why recipes call for sometimes adding a tablespoon of vegetable oil. Why not coconut oil?-- I understand the emulsifying and pulling out of the kavalactones action of the oil itself, but since you're drinking the stuff out of a coconut shell and coconut oil is presumably a more indigenous fat, I'm curious why I've never seen a recipe call for coconut oil or super-fatty coconut milk top-cream or something more... "tropical." Is there a reason for this?

I have found that coconut oil does not potentiate kava at all whereas something in milk does.
