Fresh frozen kava's sensitivity

There is a claim that fresh kava must remain frozen when transported.

I had shipment of fresh frozen kava sent to me,

Due to some communications mishaps. The parcel was in transit for 9 days.

It arrived thawed, but i did not notice any decay or strange smells.

I do assume that is has to with thats its in sealed bag. I do assume it would be different if there was a exposure to air.

Hi Michael, where did you order the fresh kava ? I'm wondering that you didn't have troubles at the border with such a shipment (to Danemark, I suppose).

Puu O hoku via a forwarder.
I had it shipped to sweden.

I have done 2 shipments one that took a long time. And another that took 3 days.

vacuum sealed whole intact roots (unpeeled) should remain safe(ish) and fresh(ish) for a few days. A bit like whole carrots or ginger. But once it's peeled and minced then it should likely be treated like any freshly prepared food. starch+nutrients+water+warm temperature + neutral ph = not a very shelf stable mix. Vacuum sealing it might help a bit, but still.
