Kava nausea remedy

Hello everybody, I'm still a little new to the Kava Forum and you guys are great. I recently started using kava again as a "lesser evil" to supplement a long addiction to narcotics and bad anxiety due to my having Asperger's Syndrome. It has worked wonders, my speech is much more coherent and it helps me not to get so manic (I get very obsessive and anxious.) I have been having very significant nausea lately, though. I decided to pick up some Beano, guessing that the nausea might be related to difficulty metabolizing all the excess cellulose I am consuming. I tell you what, it has worked like a charm. I have to use a little more kava, but it is worth not having the nausea. Just figured I would let you guys know in case you have the same issue.

Well I'm new too. But I had the same problem using Kava. For me, I cant take, any root material. I don't know how folks chew it or toss and wash. My solution, was to strain through a regular Kava bag, then I restrain it with a handkerchief. I find that this solved my problems. But Kava gives me gas, too. Maybe the Beano, might help that. Ill give it a try. Much love. Roaddog....

I found that Ginger was the perfect remedy for me ( ginger extract or quality ginger lollies work way better then cheap shop bought stuff and best of all real ginger root) ginger has been a staple for nusea with me as I have undergone surgeries before and the pain medications would have horrid side effects to the point all I could have was ginger untill my tummy settled and if I did not take it I generally would puke. Ginger is considered one of the world best herbal anti emetics that don't get you high and also it does wonders for inflammation so if you drink kava for pain ginger is a positive plus

Do you have a scientific name of beano? I'm in Australia and our pharma comps change names except for scientific name

You should try the traditional method, or have you already because it made all the difference with kava for me

I am not sure why, this just seems to be my experience. I have been doing a stir and chug. I typically take two beano before taking three to five tablespoons of kava unfiltered.
Ya, I can't toss and wash, or ill toss my cookies (puke). I have to really filter to be able to not have stomach issues. I run my grog through a traditional kava bag, then I run it through a handkerchief. I'm always amazed to see what all the bag left. Usually it's a lot. I find this helps.

I personally use an old sock and I find I'll usually get 1/3 to a 1/2 of the kava outa it when I do my two washes in a small amount of water, I prefer to use less so I don't need to drink as much liquid as I already consume lots and I find it quite potent this way only a shot glass or two of my mildly sludgy mix is a normal shell

So I'll usually do 2 washes of 4 to 6 tbsp with reverse tolerance and either drink this to myself or split it with my brother most of the time and it usually only makes a litre though sometimes I'll make it to 1.5 litres for both washes if I have not hydrated enough that day

That's a lot. Try doing the traditional method for a couple weeks with 8tbsps, no enzyme and use ginger if needed

Ya, my blender won't hold enough to make a liter. I make small batches at a time. You fiber drinkers, must have one tough stomach. If I only use the Kava bag, which gets probably 80% of the fiber out. I do take fiber, only its fiber husk, and not kava fiber and I find that kava can make my stools a bit soft. The fiber dose wonders for that. You can make your own fiber if you take field corn, remove the corn from the Cobb, and run a knife down the cob. This makes an excellent source of fiber, for me. Sorry if I got off topic. Although, I find everyone is so much more relaxed about getting off topic. Guess this place is truly a lounge. Too cool. Much love. Roaddog....

I also use kava for my IBS as well with my brother, it seems to stabilize everything and if it is runny it won't burn. It seems not every kavalactacone is lost through the gut (sorry if that sounds gross but it's amazingly helpful) and are you saying you only have 20% kava root left in bag after? And ditto on the lounge part !

Yes I would say 20% ends up in the handkerchief. I just wash it off. What I like to do when the tea, gets put into the handkerchief, is seal the top, by folding the corners in, and holding the handkerchief below its opening. Then I just shake sort of hard, on the Handkerchief, in an up and down motion. This allows the tea to drop out, on every down stroke. I find this easer than squeezing it out. Also when im finished, I see all that the bag missed.Much love. Roaddog
