My friend Dr. Katz was walking through a liquor store in Long Beach California when he spotted Kava. Having heard me talk endlessly about Kava, he hopped on Blab and showed me. I had him mail me a half pound. Call me a risk taker?

A pretty fine grind. Tonight I will be indulging in after a long stressful day at work.
I have been drinking kava for 13 years. Lately, I have regularly consumed Wakacon Waka or Lawena via the Aluball method, which is perhaps wasteful, but clean and easy. Tried GHK instant which blew my mind but was far too expensive. I'd like to find something with that kinda kick, for half the price. Maybe this is it. Anyone have any insight on this.... somewhat sketchy looking baggy?

I don't see any harm in experimenting with this once or twice, but you should acetone test it just to be sure it's safe for long term use.

The chances are that you will be fine and that this is great kava. Matavai is a village on northern Savaii, and Safune is the district name. This north west area of savaii is known for the best kava in Samoa, & when I spent 4 years there I always bought kava from this area. Assuming just 10km oor so to the west produces some great powder too.
These small 100g bags with home-printed labels are typical of kava sold all over Samoa, so chances are these bags were imported directly from the grower with no middlemen or re- packaging.
Why not give them a call with any questions? The numbers is on the bag.

Your mix looks very weak though if you don't mind me saying. Max 1 litre to one of these bags IMHO.

To dial internationally, normally one has to dial: exit code + country code + phone number.
The country code for Samoa is 685.

In Fiji, the exit code is 00, so to reach the producer of that kava I'd dial 00 685 23196. If my google-fu serves me right, then the exit code for the US is 011, so you'd need to dial:

011 685 23196

Don't forget to take timezones into account

I would actually just dial +685, then the second group of numbers on the contact or the mobile. That should get you through. To dial the + hold down zero on your cell phone.

I liked it! I got really into After Effects and made some trippy background animations for my youtube videos. It put me in the zone and easily let me forget about the stress of the day. I am pretty bad at describing kava, but I think heady? I don't remember needing to put my head to the pillow and animated 12 hour days. I went through it pretty fast.

Here's my old favourite from just down the road from Matavai in Asau. There are lots of small producers in Samoa that sell these 100g bags locally. If I saw any for sale outside of Samoa I wouldn't hesitate to buy the lot.

I warned the guy I'll probably start buying all of it now that I found out. He said he'll have more next week.
These little packs are actually stuffed with more than I thought. Maybe about 1 cup per bag, possibly a little more.
About 6 bucks a pop, not too shabby.

Seeing those bags reminds me of home. That's sweet they have them in the liquor stores in LA now. If you're ever in hawaii most gas stations and small liquor stores will have bags packed like that.
