    Rare Kava Varieties

I wish this K/DHM ratio were more widely considered by consumers ahead of just chemotype because it must be important in telling you the heady/heavy ratio you're expecting. If people think of Borogu with 3 as a fairly balanced kava then that gives a good baseline they can compare with. Do you...

    Preloading with cider vinegar

@Henry mentioned this to me once. It came from Lebot I think? Years ago when I used to drink strong tasting bad kava, I would put a little bit of ginger, lemon and honey syrup in. I never noticed it reducing the effects, but that doesn't mean it wasn't breaking down the kavain somewhat...

    Pacific Elixir Traditional Kava

It's the most consistently good kava I've had over the years. I think only GHK's Mahakea could challenge that in my experience so far. By consistent I don't mean the effects are identical each time, rather I mean I have never had a disappointing batch. Yes, I prefer some batches to others (the...

New site to order kava in the UK and Europe

Fantastic work @Edward . You're doing a great service for nervous pet owners in the UK. If I still lived in the UK and my cat hadn't been dead for the last 8 years I would certainly have bought big from you. I think my cat went senile in her last two years and was very placid and friendly in...

Good time to try RealKava.com's 5 Star

Is it the same thing as Nambawan?

A colonial newspaper on the difference between Samoan and Hawaiian kava (written in 1916!)

The claims about kava's thirst quenching properties are quite dubious too!

    New Tongan Kava and Discount

Hi @Bula Kava House Do you have chemotypes and kavalactone % values for these kavas? Interested in the difference between the two Tongans.

Different stages of dermo - Do you get slightly reddish skin first?

How common is dermo? I've drunk kava for years and never experienced it. I just get slightly dry skin, which is easily alleviated. Do we have any idea roughly was % of kava drinkers get dermo?

    Henry! Help!

I also wish I hadn't consumed all my Mighty Tongan. I'm now rationing the Cheerful Fijian like crazy. But Henry keeps on sourcing kava that's better and better, so maybe the Vanuatu blend will trump everything else?! (If so, sign me up for a ton).

    Aluball mesh has broken

Wow I had no idea. I was thinking I might get a few years out of them.

    Aluball mesh has broken

I was a bit worried about this happening but all the reviews are so favourable I thought I must have been wrong. I've been using it regularly since March: I mixed some kava up last night in the shaker, and when I went to take a glug, almost threw up :D The whole conconction was swimming with...

What Country in the World is the Riskiest Place to Live?

I think you're right and I'm being unrealistic to expect anything different. The news cannot just be a litany of all the terrible things happening everywhere right now, even though it seems more just for it to be that way. I think that we (and when I say we in this post, I mean "we") are kind of...

What Country in the World is the Riskiest Place to Live?

For a lot of these places the risk of sea level rise comes from increasing the "base state" upon which a storm acts. A storm which didn't flood your house 20 years ago, might flood your house now. And by "house" of course it could mean entire neighbourhoods, or even cities. However, I have been...

    New harvests and blend?

Thanks Chris. :) Is that in descending order of composition? So is it an even split between the 5, or more like 40/30/20/5/5 ? :D

    New harvests and blend?

Hi Chris @Gourmet Hawaiian Kava , do you have any new harvests coming up? Also are you still planning to make your special blend you were talking about last year? I think it was supposed to be a particularly "heavy" one? thanks!

Maori kava (not real kava ;)) pictures

Thanks Chris. @Henry @Gourmet Hawaiian Kava Hawaii is damp enough that the temperature on average would fall 0.6C per 100m. So if 2500ft elevation would be around 500m higher than Kurtistown. That would make Chris' high elevation sites have an average temperature of maybe 17C* during the...
