    Constipation is a thing

Yeah, it's the opposite for me as well. In fact, on my days where I'm feeling I want to skip my pre-lunch Kava, I'll not have as good of motility later. But I also consume lots and lots of water (with electrolytes - don't want to wash away the salt + minerals) because Kava, as well as two other...

Kava FAQ Why does kava just not really work sometimes? Also, can you develop tolerance to specific strains?

Oh man, I've run into this - the Aluball has to be completely dry, or the fibers you initially add to the Aluball stick to the wet metal mesh, forming an instant blockage. I started noticing after shaking one up one time that the water was WAAAY lighter "mud" colored than normal. Opened up the...

The bad effects on my stomach and bowel

I have IBS and have battled stomach issues and, with the gut-brain connection, have some fairly intense "impending doom" feelings when things are moving around in my stomach. It's like I can eat something and tell you where it is in the GI tract - super sensitive. At my worst, I was...

Did we customize a washing machine to make kava? Yes we did and it is awesome!

I was really impressed with the preparation Nakamal at Home does for large quantities: It seems like a great mix of traditional prep and large scale.

Did we customize a washing machine to make kava? Yes we did and it is awesome!

Was wondering the same thing. REALLY slick idea with this though! Kava looked pretty thick too.

    Improve the taste

Oh man, glad you chilled it! YES, there's a night and day difference between warm Kava and chilled Kava. :) Ice dulls down the taste in a major way. (The first time I threw up with Kava was after consuming a big hot bowl of Melo melo. Heh.)

    "Love/Hate" Relationship with Kava

Update for anyone with gut issues who may be using Kava and K@: After taking K@ via toss-and-wash for a few years, we* began soaking it in a Ball jar of ~160 degree water. Let it sit for a while (at least 10 minutes) and by the time I take it I still usually have to add some ice or cold...

    Shell interval

This is pretty much what I do - two shells right off the bat, followed by additional shells 15 minutes later.

    Customer Loyalty Programs ?

Sometimes if you ask, you can get a discount code. A while back it was brought to my attention (by my wife) that I had spent around $700 in Kava one month. So with that in mind I checked with my main vendor to see if there's a volume discount, and was given a code to use from then on. Very nice...

    One more try.

@scaryjarri, thank you for laying that out there. I was saddened to read about all the prior things you went through (ie. alcohol, meds) and am glad you have gotten to a place where you feel, for the most part it seems, happier. At least compared to before. I've quit K@ cold-turkey before...

    One more try.

Kap’m, thank you for the feedback. K@ binding to the mu receptor (I believe) in particular is for sure a cause of constipation. The fact that I ALSO drink Kava (a diuretic, as you well know) means I usually am guzzling water all day. It’s the having *GOOD DAYS* then going back to not feeling...

    One more try.

tldr: Is there something I can do to make sure my stomach/body is processing/working/metabolizing properly? I've posted before regarding my back and forth with Kava. ie. Whether it's gonna "work" or not. Gradually I started to realize that just THINGS IN GENERAL weren't "working", or at least...

What’s in everyone’s shell this week?

I'm down to just one bag of KWK Melo Melo, so that's what's going in mine tonight. I've been on a break (Skin looks normal now, LOL!) so I'm looking forward to it.

Why is K@ available in Kavabars, why not Scel or Mulungu instead?

I agree with you on this. I live in a place where K@ is legal but, now because it is sold in a new head-shop that opened up (we had NONE), our local government is trying to ban sales in the city, and push up the ladder to have it banned across the state. Personally I buy it online from the...

Why is K@ available in Kavabars, why not Scel or Mulungu instead?

I really wanted Sceletium tortuosum / Kanna to work, but the ones I've tried have had no noticeable effect on well-being. The last one I tried was a 20:1 extract. I was drawn to Kava because I had become physically dependent on K@ (in fact, this was my very first experience with dependence...

    Really struggling

I sincerely thank you for this. And I feel you are right - I think there are fundamental things we should do regardless of supplements/substances, or at least have in our toolbox (Cognitive Behavior Therapy, for example) that work or at least HELP, regardless of our body's current chemical...

    Really struggling

The thinking behind my use of St. John's Wort is that it's called "nature's SSRI". When combined with mood-boosting supplements like K@, it reportedly allows for a longer duration of effects. It honestly may not be doing much of anything for me, though. This past week I started taking less...

    Kava Routines to Avoid Lethargy

Dang! This sounds JUST like what I'm going through! I keep a daily journal and can literally plot on a graph the rise and fall. It is a CYCLE, like you are experiencing. A consolation I've carried lately is, even when I'm super low, I can look at my history and know that I should trend back...

Thank you so much for this. I really really appreciate you taking time to say it, as it is encouraging to me.

    Accept Kava skin?

I really appreciate all the feedback! Picked up more than a couple solid pieces of advice from y'all. Thanks again, so much.
