    Diminished euphoria from kava (tolerance)

I recently started kava again after a 2.5 month break. I ordered Temo Purple from Art of Kava, and my first several sessions were nice, giving me pleasant body relaxation and subtle, lingering euphoria. Pretty much the ideal kava session where it feels nice but doesn't leave you with side...

How long of break to reset liver?

I've not had any alcohol since shortly after starting kava. I never had alcohol and kava at the same time and usually put a buffer between them of a day or so to be safe. But no alcohol at all in the last 18 months. Not because I've ever had a "problem," I just found it unsatisfactory and feel...

How long of break to reset liver?

I guess the GGT increase is what I am concerned with and hoping to "reset." I knew dermo symptoms were normal when quitting, it was the extended length that bothered me. Was only a few days in the past but several weeks this time.

How long of break to reset liver?

I've been consuming kava close to two years now. I had a CBC/metabolic panel for unrelated reasons about a year into use, and things were all normal. But a few months ago I had my cholesterol tested and it was extremely, dangerously high - I wrote another long post about that in this forum. I...

    Crazy high cholesterol

Thank you. I think it's safe to say kava can increase your cholesterol by moderate amounts over time. But while you have been consuming it for 15 years, I've been consuming it not quite 2 years and my cholesterol is sky high. Kava is part of the picture but I suspect my other lifestyle factors...

    Crazy high cholesterol

I'm a 41YO male. I had a full blood workup done about 6 months ago, including CBC and metabolic panel. Everything was normal. The only thing not tested was cholesterol because I hadn't fasted. They reminded me to come in for that but I put it off because it was never the right time. I just saw...

    Powdered Kava Temo Ground Kava

I've had a few sessions with TEMO. So far I'm liking it a lot, and it may be my new go-to for a very strong kava. TEMO, while being quite strong, has a much more recreational and mellow effect compared to something like Nambawan. Nambawan is very strong but for me, in a disconcerting way, less...

can kava & associated habits cause IBS?

I was having some digestive issues and mild abdominal pain last summer. I saw my GP and told them about my kava habit. Because the pain sounded possibly like an ulcer they tested for h. pylori (negative). They also did a full blood workup with CBC, metabolic panel, Lipase, etc and it was all...

    Forum workings question

I've noticed my posts often get moved to the "New Members" forum, and I can't post threads in the In-Depth Discussion forum. I checked and I've been on this forum (and consuming kava) for about 15 months now. Am I really still "new" and unable to sit at the big kids table? How does this work...

Second wash with kava that's sat out

Cool, thanks. I normally play it on the safe side, but I don't have much kava left and was looking forward to a decent krunk on this very happy Friday night lol. But I'll live.

Second wash with kava that's sat out

I make my kava with juice (Old Orchard Apple Strawberry works well and is cheap). I prepare traditionally, wring out the strainer bag really well and put it in the fridge for a second wash the next day. Last night I forgot to put the bag in the fridge and it sat out on the counter. Do you think...

Wow! kava: low kavalactone % but strong effects?

That tracks with WOW, which is 75% stump. I did not know that actually! I thought you were better off making a thick, oily brew.

Wow! kava: low kavalactone % but strong effects?

The lab report from Nakamal does provide this breakdown. Someone smarter than me could probably use the breakdown to find some kind of relationship between ratios of different kavalactones. Unfortunately, not that many kava vendors provide these, which surprises me. If you're legit, what have...

Wow! kava: low kavalactone % but strong effects?

Many reviews say that Wow! kava from Nakamal is very potent. Yet looking at the lab reports, most batches only have 5-6% kavalactone content. In comparison, people also say Stone kava is potent, but that makes more sense given its 9% kavalactone content. Can someone help me understand the...

complementary kava to CUT Nambawan with ?

BKH Nambawan is very strong and can provide a krunky, couch-lock vibe. That is often just what I'm looking for, but sometimes I'd like something lighter. And some batches of Nambawan can feel more "pharmaceutical" than recreational...meaning, I feel kind of messed up but not necessarily in a fun...

    Kava, tinnitus and GABA

I have some mild tinnitus which is worse in one ear. I manage to ignore it much of the time, but now and then I remember it and it drives me batty. It's a high-pitched ringing, something like 10khz. Disappears in any noisy environment but at home when it's quiet, can be very distracting. I've...

    Kavalactone % in different grinds

I thought it was more than just a finer grind. Doesn't the process also filter out the bigger fibrous parts that are tough on the stomach, and lower in kavalactones anyway? If so it should be more potent on a gram-for-gram basis.

    Kavalactone % in different grinds

One thing I appreciate about BKH is the testing information they provide for each kava, which shows among other things the kavalactone percentage. I'm confused though because they provide the same data sheet for both medium grind and micronized Nambawan, which shows 11.2% kavalactone content...

Micronized Kava Review 11 Year Waka

This is one of the smoothest-tasting kavas I've had. The taste mostly disappeared into the juice and what was there was not too offensive. By the way, I find Dole Orange Strawberry Banana is a great juice for kava, as is the Trader Joe's equivalent. The effects came on slower for me than some...
