Adderral and kava?

hi,

I am wanting to buy kava for the first time, but I am concerned because I am currently prescribed 10xr adderral twice a day. I don't plan on using kava on same day as meds. Will I have any issues or are there any dangers. Anyone else prescribed adderral? Thank u

@Skidz Adderall is broken down by the liver enzyme, CYP2D6. This enzyme is effected by kava because it shares metabolic pathways with your body's natural metabolism process. Kava may slow the breakdown of amphetamine, causing it to stay at higher concentrations in your blood, for longer.

Amphetamine is regarded with a minor interaction rating when combined with kava.

I'm not a doctor, but if you did decide to take kava, keep an eye on your level of side effects from your adderrall. That would be how you'd know that they weren't playing well together.

To be honest.... you should consider dropping the script all together and using schizandra berrys they will work the same and better...
Adderall is dirt and will your adrenal glands as it did to me.

Addrerall is amphetamine/dextroamphetamine. It doesn't specifically say adderall or amphetamine, but it does interfere with the Cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) substrates. Being that adderall is broken down by the same pathway, you can reasonably assume that it would cause a minor interference.

In short, it isn't listed, but still falls into the class of drugs broken down by that liver enzyme.

No problem! While it probably wouldn't hurt you, we would rather everyone be as safe as possible, and at least have all the information to make an informed decision.
