Kava Curious
I ordered some Fu'u from BKH this weekend and I received it today (Thursday). The packaging was cool and resealable, which everybody should do, in my opinion. It allowed me to have a good view of what was soon to come. I was excited to try a new kind of kava, but I was dreading what it might taste like since I have not been a particular fan of Tongan kava flavor before. N@H's Tongan kava tasted very strongly of paint or liquefied plastic, so I associate that experience with Tongan kava, typically.
So I measured a half-cup and put it in my bag and added two cups of water. Some nice, light colored turbidity flowed out of the bag and tinted the water pretty quickly. I liked the texture of it in the bag; some kava feels like sludge and that kind can be harder to squeeze, but this kava didn't have that problem. I kneaded and squeezed it for about 10 minutes or so and then I began to sip. Actually, the flavor is not objectionable at all! It does resemble Tongan enough to let me know what it is, but it is unique enough to be actually pleasant. I cannot believe that I'm saying this, but this is some of the best tasting kava that I have tried, Tongan or otherwise. It was slightly bitter at first, but that mellowed out quickly. 9.5/10 for taste.
Some people report that kava hits them almost immediately, but my experience is different. It usually takes about twenty or thirty minutes for it to get going for me, and the onset is extremely pleasant with good clarity. I am feeling very relaxed and happy, and I am almost finished with the two cups' worth. Lately I have been enjoying Isa varieties from some vendors and their somewhat heavier and sluggish effects, so this is different but it is a welcome change. I feel like I can calmly concentrate on anything. After the onset of effects, it feels like they rapidly increase. It's like a calmness coupled with a sharpness of mind, and it doesn't feel dopey or stoney or anything like that. 9.5/10 for effect.
This one is great, boys and girls. Comparatively, it is a 9/10 for value and I think I will be a repeat customer soon. Thanks for an excellent product, Judd.
