Anyone experience anxiety and discomfort when consuming kava too fast?

I have been getting my kava on lately and I remember drinking about 4 shells at once and having a panic attack for 30 minutes and feeling overall dysphoria. What's a good kava for anxiety? Also do different kava's really give different effects? Thanks

too much too fast my man. the MAO-B inhibition combined with the increase in norepinephrine is likely inducing panic. You are effectively overdosing.

All kava's are good for anxiety, some a better though. I prefer heady kavas for anxiety, it makes it hard to think, some like dhm and the sedation it causes.

I would say lower your dose or spread out the dosing.

I have but it wasn't really a panic attack.  I was just grumpy/edgy for lack of a better term.  I attributed it to the kind of kava (Tongan pride) and how fast I drank it since it upset my stomach.  Everyone is different but I generally get mild anxiety when drinking anything other than Vanuatu waka or Paradise Fijian waka.  Fu'u, Vanuatu 3 and Tongan pride all make me a little edgy-I catch a buzz but they don't get me at peace with myself and my surroundings.

I am new to kava but drank too much crummy kava one day before I found Paradise Kava. I had some bad feelings and even thought I should not drink anymore kava at all. Then I found Paradise extracts. Next (like now) I started drinking this Fijan from them too. All is well now:)

I am pretty sensitive to kava (and alcohol for that matter) and I definitely get that discomfort...my pathways are open I guess and too much of any varietal (too fast) is not the best feeling...after a while it subsides and then I can start drinking more readily. Strange thing is that same phenomenon happens with alcohol.  If I have a shot or something it hits me really hard and I don't like the feeling...after a few beers and a few hours, i can start drinking shots more readily and drink for a while.

I have a strange defense mechanism against it. When I've had too-much-too-fast, I start sneezing uncontrollably until I stabilize. If it's too strong, I'll do the sneezing while trying to swallow and rain kava everywhere.

I am sure the Corgis hate kava rain, they seem very prim and proper ;-).

Oh, I slip them kava pills in cream cheese all the time. I've also been teaching them to speak the Queen's English. One of them can say, "NO BACON!" One of them can say "I Never!" I've also been trying to teach the partially deaf one, but so far we've only gotten her to bark to the tune of the Nutcracker.

Yup. Take it slow. Vary your shell sizes on how strong the kava is and how much you've used. For isa kavas I like to drink 2 - 4 ounces at a time for instance. Too much kava too fast makes me feel lethargic, anxious, and mentally disabled. Also, that terrible hypersensitive skin feeling where just a slight breeze makes your guts feel irritated as hell.
