Got a call today from an associate, Chengguo Xing, America's most fervent pro-Kava researcher based out of the University of Minnesota.
We discusses the outdated FDA warning on kava, and it's crippling effect on our entire industry from grower to retailer, from Vanuatu to Boston.
We talked about the National Institute of Health grant his team is part of, his years of effort to get the upper echelon of the scientific community interested in furthering Kava research and the unsubstantial liver damage connection. No one in the country knows exactly how the liver is damaged and Chengguo's new research project is to take on this Herculean task on.
I thanked him for his past clinical research. His team proved that kava helps reduce colon cancer cells.
He called for our help in determining what the Kava Industry is worth in dollars per year in the US. so that the right people can see the numbers and approve the new project at hand.
His ears perked when we discussed some stats.
7 years ago when we started our little farmer's market table, there was one kava bar in the US in south Florida and the latest number heard is there are now 11 in South Florida alone!
