Best Kava against anxiety ?

Kava Curious
Hi guys,

Some say Premium Fijian Kava isn't the best choice against anxiety (I started 2 weeks ago and all it gives me is dizziness). Which powder could be a better choice then ?

I chose Fire Island, or a Paradise Extract. If I need something for anxiety, I need it NOW.

Pretty much what the Prince said. Paradise's extract is beyond great. Its kavalactone profile, while noticeably kavain-dominant, feels well balanced and gives me a clean effect. I've never tried Fire Island, but I've heard only positive things. Steve's Kava Kava Candy is also a great choice. I usually have a large dose of the Paradise extract shortly before leaving my house, and then if anxiety strikes while I'm abroad, a few candies will put me right back to the zen I was enjoying previously. Best of luck in finding your ideal anxiety tamer.

Hmm yeah but I want to avoid extracts because they're the ones accused of causing liver problems as opposed to powder. Correct me if I'm wrong (somehow I feel I am!)

As far as I know—I may be wrong, also—liver problems are birthed from using incorrect parts of the Piper Methysticum plant, i.e. not the root. I very well may be incorrect, but considering the copious amount of extract I consume, I really hope I'm not. If it turns out I am right and the issues rest solely in the part of the plant being used, you could speak with Adil about the extraction process he uses. Can anyone else chime in on whether liver damage is caused by irresponsible manufacturing or the nature of an extract itself?

For me Stone is the best for anxiety. Fu'u worked decent too.

One time I took white sands after fu'u and couldn't stop giggling for an hour. And I had pretty bad anxiety before that.

Stone works every time for me.

Boroguru might be another one if stone is too expensive.

Stone seems like it hits people quite differently. For me I get a little jittery when I drink it... little muscle twitches here and there if I drink a lot. Kinda makes me more anxious in a paradoxal kinda way.

Adil's extracts are CO2 extracts, not tinctures. Also he uses only the root of the kava plant. I'm sure he'll be chiming in here soon. I think his extracts are top notch, and seeing as he has personally submitted his products to testing I'm confident that he's confident that it's the best of the best. I also suggest stone. The DHM/K will rid the anxiety, but be careful as it can leave you trying to locate your center of gravity quite unsuccessfully.

Just to expand on what the good Capm' and ozzfan said, the potential for liver damage may have been due to use of the top parts of the plants OR alcohol based extraction processes. Fortunately PK is participation in a study on the effects of various extraction methods with kava, so we may know more soon. But in the meantime my rules are kava and alcohol should never mix (in a bottle or your stomach) and only buy from reputable dealers.

As far as anxiety it seems as if there are multiple kinds or the effects of kava are different for each person because you hear 'head' kavas just as much as 'body' kavas. In my (limited) experience, it looks like body for me, you I would buy 2 to start, maybe Stone (body) and Fu'u (head) and see which comes closest after you get over any tolerance.

@ozzyfan121 : about candies, you mentioned 'Steve's Kava Kava Candy'. Could you tell me where can I buy some, and also if you consume KP's extracts then why don't you buy candies from them as well ? Finally I'd like to ask you a general question: does kava do a better job for you than chemical anxyolitics ?

To partially answer your question to the Great 'Oz - You can get the mentioned kava candies from: http://kavakavacandy.com/
Many forum folks (including me) have tried them and they taste good & are effective but pretty low dosage. Of course these aren't designed to krunked you out, they are portable kava for daily stress. Perhaps Steve (the inventor) and jump in with some additional info.

Hey, Draik,I see you already found the candy website; when you said KP I'm just assuming you meant Paradise (correct me if that's not what you meant; I'm pretty slow on the uptake today)—I have purchased candies from them for convenience's sake, but if you're planning on buying in larger quantities you can cut the cost by ordering directly from Steve's website. Does kava do a better job for me than chemical anxiolytics..... yes. Taking into consideration legality, health, and social condemnation, kava is definitely a better choice to maintain a life without worrying about getting a fix, overdosing, or being arrested. Speaking solely of effects, though, it absolutely can't hold a candle to benzos or opiates, at least not for me. However, if social anxiety is your primary affliction, the responsible use of K@ in combination with kava will help you tremendously; if you suffer from chronic pain or injury, it's a godsend. If you're recovering from opiate addiction or trying to stave off withdrawals, it's a godsend. If you're just looking for a little recreational relaxation time, it's a godsend. It is addictive and can take its toll, but the purposes for which I use it wreak more mental and emotional havoc than does a possible addiction to a weak, sort-of kind-of opiod-ish plant. There are a lot of herbal anxiolytics, as well as stimulants that don't induce as much anxiety as caffeine. If you're using chemical anxiolytics, I would recommend moving in the direction of herbalism. It's saved my life, or at least my sanity. If you're not and you just asked me that out of curiosity, then I apologize for the rant and forget I said anything. (smiley: ohwell)
EDIT: In my experience, there is no comparison between the candy and GAIA products. Steve really outdid himself on this one; it's discreet, effective, portable and affordable. Perhaps it's just me, but I never got any effects from the GAIA capsules. They did, however, get me through my reverse tolerance period quite well.

Thanks for the mention- yes, you hit the nail on the head.  I developed the candy to be effective for day time use and not make people tired or krunked out.  I wanted something that people can take to their job, cubicle (any type of work) or even take in traffic jams.  Typically, the candy will bring you from an 8 or 9 on the anxiety scale to a 5.  It is subtle but yet can get you out of the "red zone" if you are feeling anxious.  Take one, two, three...no problem: take the whole pack if you are in a big jam.  I have found that people just like to have them on an "as need" basis.  The act of dissolving one sub-lingual and getting that nice numbing takes the edge off too.  Someone mentioned that they used it to curb anxiety before an interview and it helped them alot. You still want to be function and still "be you" when you have things to do.

I also wanted the candy to taste good and not look conspicuous...I was just flying to the bay area and always have the candy with me.  No problem, pulling out the pack - no one has ever asked me...unless they see kava on the package (know about it) and ask me if they can try one :)

Feel free to let me know if you have any questions at all....

One more thing, @ozzyfan121: "I usually have a large dose of the Paradise extract shortly before leaving my house" < how much exactly is a large dose of extract for you ?
