The freezing temperatures get as low as 9,000 feet elevation sometimes and once I was in Volcano Village (4,000) and there was frost on the ground early morning!
But down nearer sea level we remain in the true tropics. We may, however, have some strong wind-gusts. My place, at 200 feet above sea level will get gusts to 25 MPH. Kava does not care for this at all and can get tattered up.
The predicted 100 MPH gusts and snow is for the tops of Mauna Kea (13,803) and Mauna Loa (13,677).

Right now it is all over every island. Mau'i is worst but Puna District on Hawai'i Island also.
