Kava usage can cause clotting difficulties in some people.
In myself, it has caused an abnormally high platelet count, perhaps as a compensatory function.
It may have nothing at all to do with kava.
I have been targeted for platelet donation efforts due to my rather large amount of platelets. Unfortunately, one of the side effects is that I bruise quite easily from giving blood or plasma (though not from other traumas), so I look like a heroin addict if I do it more than once every other month or so.
