I think the alcohol potentiates the lily/lotus. You can mix lily and kava but in my experience the kava blocks the effects. I have had success separating them by taking the lily before any kava that day. If kava was like a 6/10 in strength of mental shift, lily/lotus is 3/10. I would grind the lotus and toss and wash it. Takes about 4-6 grams of whole herb for me.

I believe there is some chemical interaction and synergy between blue lotus and kava. Blue lotus tea at 7g/cup, in my experience has a flavor of the sweet bitter dark brown herbs, like cocoa powder or chickory root. dandelion stems thrown in. it is a little more brown than amber and ends up being a complement to a shell. I haven't tried lotus more than the one time however, and I had one shell with it. Went nice with music and solitaire.
