Powdered Kava Review Borongoru

Kava Curious
Received my Kava Sample Pack yesterday, so last night I decided to try the Borongoru (mind you, this is my first experience with true, noble kava root powder). I added about 12 oz of spring water to 3 tbsp of kava root and prepared it traditionally, following the instructions on the back of the package. Overall, I probably kneaded and strained for about 10-15 minutes. The first thing I noticed was the fresh smell. The water turned a nice tan color (reminiscent of coffee with creamer in it). The glass I used was small so I got roughly 2 glasses full. Very fresh taste (earthy and potent) and extremely smooth going down. The numbness of the mouth was subtle, yet substantial and lasted around 20 minutes before tapering off. The effects were also very subtle coming on, and continued to creep up on me within the first hour. I noticed that the effects from this kava are very balanced. Not too heady and not too heavy; it seemed to be a nice balance of both.

After about an hour and a half I ate some boneless chicken wings. At this point I was really content with everything. Sat down in the recliner and watched part of a documentary for a while after I ate and was really relaxed and at peace with everything. About another hour passes and I realize I only did one wash, so I did a good 2nd wash with about 6 oz of water. The second one was not as potent of course, but it made for a nice glass full that brought back the subtle numbing of my tongue and mouth. It seemed to boost me back into the effects a little, fairly quickly. I could tell it was going to be a good nights sleep for me even though I wasn't really tired at the moment. I listened to some classes on herbalism for a while and ended up slowly making my way to the bed. I don't even remember laying there for long at all, and once I fell asleep I slept like a baby throughout the entire night.

When I woke up I was very relaxed and content. I woke up to a phone call pretty early and ended up laying back on the recliner to follow up on the lectures I was listening to the night before. That was kind of a mistake because I got so comfortable I fell back asleep for a few hours, lol. From my experience, this is a very balanced kava. Like I mentioned above, not too heady and not too heavy, but somewhere right in the middle. I really enjoyed this cultivar and look forward to trying the others soon. I am still feeling fairly relaxed and content at 2:28pm, so I may actually wait until tomorrow for another session. Also, I would like to mention that Mike @Kalm with Kava truly goes above and beyond with his passion for kava and incredible customer service. Thanks, Mike for reaching out and being so helpful, it's truly appreciated. :)

@Introspect.... This would make a great review. May I move it to the review section for you?
Thanks @HeadHodge Sure, if you like. But being that I'm only a couple weeks into using kava and this being my first experience with true, noble kava root, I didn't think I had enough experience to give it actual ratings and an overall score. Still have work to do on my kneading skills as well, lol.

I think I need to dispel the idea that you need to be a kava guru to post reviews. Some of the most valuable, awesome, and most informative reviews come from those who are just beginning their kava journey. We're all equal here, and your input is just as important as those who have been drinking kava for years. :)

I resemble that remark. I'm loath to charge in like Rambo without a jockstrap when I'm doing something new, and I had to try four or five types of kava preparations before I felt comfortable doing "official" reviews here. Now I feel like I have my bearings and I'm going to be a review-posting machine with everything I'm drinking from here on out. I usually go read the reviews before I buy a new type, now that I know the resources is available.
