For the sake of saving money, I am wondering if one can have decent success processing some medium grind with a good food processor, Ninja, or a mortar to make some micro. Or... does GHK simply have the magic going on? Thoughts?
GHK does indeed have magic. Chris removes the makas prior to micronization.
BHKs 11 year is good (for me) but I run it through a kitchen strainer before mixing in liquids. GHK micro is very fine and doesn't require straining.
@Nodnav, if you micronize powder, you are still consuming the rough fibers that are called Makas. Those fibers are normally strained out if you prepare kave the traditional way. I don't recommend it because the fibers may not sit well with your digestive system. Just get some empty 12 oz lock tap beer bottles. Make a big batch of kava using the straining method. Then pour it into bottles and put it in the fridge. That will help cut down on the time consuming process of straining daily. I use coconut water when I do this because it helps with the taste. Good luck!
I have tried many different machines to get the kava to a fine grind and I never had any luck with any kitchen machines, The Ninja machine will not work. It might get it a bit finer but not much and certainly not as fine as my micro. Aloha.
From what I understand, Chris has developed a "portable" Collider or Particle Accelerator if you will. Of course he owns the "patent" to that and it does indeed smash the kava into teeny weeny particles. On the bad side, all his neighbors within a 10 mile radius have hurriedly moved to another neighborhood. Thus the price of progress. If you are ever in Kurtistown, and you see all the street lights blink on and off, you will know he is Micronization Time.
@Deleted User01@Gourmet Hawaiian Kava Good to know. I am learning as I go along about what kava really is. I am going to do a round of Chris' kava after work. It will probably be mo'i. I am receiving mo'i, mahakea, boroguru, and nene. I think mo'i is a good start. Nene could be a fourth shell.
Based on all of the reviews, I see this is a feather pillow kava. I haven't seen any reviews that indicate otherwise. I like thinking that I can be where I want to be and say to myself that it's bedtime or nene time.
