I'd like to hear from Canadians who have imported kava in the past and what type of charges were accrued, from tax to duty rates, if applicable. I'm about to make an order from Kava by Rex or Vanutau Kava. People have reported delays with the latter so I'm wary, although I would like to try their instant kava as I cannot order from nakamalathome.

You should also check out instant kava from Islandkava.com. Ships from Hawaii. Their mahakea is excellent and in my opinion much better than nakamalathome shaman or fire island. Less expensive also. No... I don't work for them but wish I did. Quite frankly I'm surprised I've never read any reviews or other comments about it on this forum other than one I posted some time ago.

Lanake how does the mahakea differ from a powder root in terms of strength?Why does one drink instant over powdered root or powdered root over instant?Im new to all this and i could use some tutelage.
Sorry to jump on your thread Sartre.Im also interested in other Canadians experiences as well.I will let you know how much my total cost was to order my shipment as soon as it gets sorted out.I can tell you that using the express mail option at Kava by Rex was processed at 3pm on the 8th which was a Friday and it reached my house at 2pm on Tuesday the 12th.So we are talking blazing fast!

powdered is more expensive, doesn't feel as "authentic", taste can be lacking, not necessarily as strong. I will say though, when I was going away for a week I ordered some fire island instant to take with me. If you have enough of it you'll certainly feel it. And if you overdo it you'll feel that too.

Ok thanks for the info.I guess its a convenient option for when you dont have the time to brew it up then?I cant wait to try some.

Squint, The mahakea instant kava comes pretty close to powdered root in terms of taste and potentcy. Definitely my #1 choice. I normally use the instant when I'm away from home.

That makes sense.If i enjoy my kava experience,im sure i will pick up some for that very reason.Im so stoked to try this stuff out!
