Myself and 3 friends have been using almost every day for years (traditional prep noble vanuatu kava from Kava society) and only one of started getting dermopathy very recently.

Yes, but it depends on a lot of factors including how much kava, the type of kava, and your prep method. Even then it is not unusual to get hit by a wave of dermo and leave a cloud of skin particles like pigpen behind you.
