Or do you hate anime?  I like Mushi-Shi (obviously) and Fullmetal Alchemist, but not sure exactly which series of Fullmetal Alchemist, my daughter is the expert on that.  The sad, er I mean epic thing is that I'm 43 years old going on 12, which means now my daughter is actually older than me mentally speaking.  I like a lot of South Korean and Thai movies as well.

this might be blasphemous in anime circles as i have literally no idea about the culture etc but dragon ball z is so sweet.

Utena, although I've learned not to watch it with my S.O., because it tends to breed mutual cynicism in relationships.

You would instantly be one of my girlfriend's favorite people for picking Utena.
I'm not really an anime person, but I'll say Basilisk... or maybe My Neighbor Totoro.

I was really into Trigun for a while. I'm a huge Hayao Miyazaki fan. I watched DragonBall Z a ton when I lived in Japan in 1st and 2nd grade - it was all broadcast in Japanese but somehow we all understood what was going on! In general I'm not a huge fan of the genre (not into a lot of the anime cliches), but I like it if it's good. Right now I'm super into the Avatar series Nickelodeon does; it's a blend of anime and Western animation. It's good stuff, and a friend of mine paints backgrounds for them. :)

Well I know it's not very anime, but I like the boondocks.
Oh yeah, I also watched all of Afro Samurai.  I suggested to a friend, who works in the movie industry, that it would be incredibly epic to do Afro Samurai: The Movie with Lawrence Fishburn and Samuel L Jackson, just because it would be badass to see those guys fight with katanas.

I'm definitely going to check out some of the anime you guys mentioned.  I've watched most of the Hayao Miyazaki / Studio Ghibli.  My daughter saw The Wizard of Oz when she was little and she was like, "meh."  Spirited Away has to be her favorite movie of all time, I used to call her Chihiro sometimes.

For live action, I love anything with JeeJa Yanin, holy crap she has some amazing skills.  I like the other Prachya Pinkaew movies like the Ong-Bak trilogy.  I've watched most of Chan-wook Park, oh man Oldboy is one f**ked up movie, I think I'm a Cyborg But That's OK is my favorite.  I like Cherrie Ying and Ziyi Zhang.  I liked Kung Fu Majohng movies mostly because I got to watch Cherrie Ying.  Mostly, I have a thing for women who can kick ass, my wife is very good at Shaolin style Kung Fu with a 2nd degree black belt and many trophies.
