Normally I don't like to quote an entire news article, but rather just pull out some key quotes, since I don't want to take traffic away from the original source, but in this case it is so short I can't help it. So please be nice and click the above link and check out the banner ad by Vinod Patel's Complete Home and Building.

"POLICE in the North have witnessed a decrease in the number of green yaqona (kava) plants theft recently.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said this was made possible through a joint partnership between police and farmers, which saw the implementation of police operations to tackle the issue.

In March this year when the offence was at its height, police conducted a series of operations on Taveuni, where three men were arrested."

I like the "Rest in Peace" Ad for Life Insurance which is right next to the green kava article...at least that's what I saw when I clicked on the link. I wonder if these links change Ads?

The ads change. I got an ad for R. B. Patel supermarket, and one for a Bryan Adams concert in Sugarland, Texas.

Word on the ground paints a different picture; this is just the police/govt doing PR.
Also, more news today:

Blood ties hamper farmers
BLOOD ties in a district in Bua have created unfortunate challenges for farmers who have hesitated to report the theft of yaqona to police.
This was raised at a chiefs' meeting in the district of Wainunu and farmers said being related to the alleged thieves made it difficult for them to report.
So in order to assist farmers, the traditional leaders banned the sale of young yaqona plants.
Tui Wainunu Ratu Orisi Baleitavea said the ban had been imposed to protect the farmers' investment.
