What's new

Hello, my introduction

hey guys, this is my first post here so i figured i would write a sort of introduction for myself. i'm not too great at this sort of thing, but i'll give it my best try haha. my names bobby, and i'm an 18 year old student suffering (although i don't like the word suffering as it has such negative connotations) from high functioning autism along with social anxiety and atypical depression. through the years i've been put on just about all the common categories of prescription drugs; SSRI's, benzos, amphetamines, antipsychotics and all that other fun stuff, never finding anything that provided more than a couple hours relief followed by an extreme rebound. I've only been using kava for about two weeks so i'm still getting through my reverse tolerance phrase but i am definitely beginning to feel some great effects, especially when followed by meditation. i know this is my first post but just from my weeks of reading through these forums i can feel a great sense of community between you guys and am very excited to join :D

As a fellow learning disabled AND traumatic brain injury sufferer I can relate that kava is sooo far superior to any pharmaceutical that any comparison is rediculous. Get some extract, drop a few bumps under you tongue and it'll be hours before you stop studying.

I'm glad that your finding kava to be beneficial. I've been on tons of meds in the past and always found the negatives far outweigh the benefits. Kava is absolutely great and has such a wide variety of uses. I'm pretty sure that I never would have made it through probation without having kava to fall back on for relaxation and krunkness. Now I just got early termination and as officially free.

Hi Brah. Welcome to the community. I too am an aspie (mild) and have tried all of the meds you listed. Unfortunately for me I still require sertraline and amphetamine to function at my job to what I consider my potential. Kava however has been better then any med I have tried and I hope there will be a day it will be all I rely on.

Welcome, very happy to hear that kava has worked so well for you. Personally, like NDG, I still take my ADD meds in conjunction with kava as I really, really, find it difficult to cope with life while my brain derails so quickly and moves much faster than is productive. But I most definitely know where you're coming from, kava has in itself been a godsend more a surplus of ailments since I discovered it, and it makes me truly happy to hear more and more people discovering it!
