I take a bowl or Tupperware and put a pea size drop or 2 of dish soap and fill it up with water. After a full rinse I dunk them in that then give them a quick rinse and dry. That's also how I wash some kinds of facemasks and other small fragile-ish dishes and stuff.
Definitely unscrew them while they are still dry with dry hands and try to have everything dry when you screw it back up. Those things are hard to open when they are wet. I've never had one break on me but some people say they the mesh can delaminate over time and bust. I just try to be light on them when I wash them and try to align the threads good when I screw it and try to have dry hands if I remember. Stuff like that usually breaks when it gets stuck and you have to start involving muscle. Lol
