I put down a month, because that's how long it took me to get appreciable effects from kava. But I also wonder if RT is not just product & preparation issues. In that first month I used a crazy fine strainer, a french press and small amounts of suspect kava.

It's always hard for me to answer this question because my first 8 or 9 years of kava drinking were sporadic, sometimes lasting a week or four. It's hard to say now, if I wasn't using enough root...or if I had never got completely through it back then. But,...from the start I always got sleep benefits and a mild kava chill vibe. Nothing compared to the all-out bliss level that some of the experience reports stated. Back then, I eventually noticed that Stone kava and sometimes Mahakea, would give more prominent effects that I was pretty happy with.

When I finally took to kava full-time, I mixed and alternated between a very heavy kava and kavaboy's heady kava everyday...Upped my tablespoons and got more vigorous with the kneading. At first my experience wasn't much different...but then, after several weeks I started getting hit with an awesome blissful, somewhat dizzying but rational inebriation after chuggin' a few strong shells. That's when I finally started seeing what the full experience could be, like I had read about years earlier. That experience can still be elusive to me now, sometimes, but I have a lot more control over it. I could really just make it stronger or make a 2nd batch if need be. That'll do it. But that doesn't necessarily work, if your body isn't primed for it yet. I know, cuz I used to try sometimes , in the old days, and I'd zoom straight to feeling sick rather than getting properly ro0ted.

I'm interested in things
I did experience effects from the beginning, but as time has passed, I have actually seemed to get more sensitive to the effects, requiring less root to get the same effects. I'm not sure if this is because my preparation technique has improved, or due to buying better quality kava, or actually something physiological.

kava has been fickle to me. Same root, same dose on different nights gives different effects. It is generally mild, but I've had moments on some nights that are actually intense. I always fast before sessions (at the very least 4 hours) and I drink when hungry. I always get some noticable effects. I always get a relaxed feeling and have from the beginning. At times I feel I've wasted some grog trying to get to a place that kava doesn't want to take me that night. She says "no, dear, we did that yesterday" and I say "but what about tonight???". "no, just be happy with what I give you."... and I always am. lol I know it's silly to view it this way, but it's a good analogy. (y)

what @shakas mentioned about switching up your cultivars daily jives with my experience. the longer i stay on the same root the weaker it seems.

I just tried Kava for the first time and felt it right away. I'm feeling great. Soooooooo relaxed. I will post a review tonight on the GHK Instant Mo'i. Love at first shell =) I wish I would've tried kava sooner.

@Steve Mariotti You got that right. I'm about to order some more GHK and try Kavaboy.
I have a pound of KavaBoy en-route as we speak. Another one I've been meaning to try that I finally got around to ordering. Then somewhere down the line I wanna try out Stone and WOW from N@H. I haven't had any N@H since December. As you can see, I have a few bags lying on my desk that I have to get through still.

It took me a week, when I first heard it was the opposite of alcohol (the more you drink the more you feel it) I didn't believe it so I started drinking Kava and quit alcohol and I started out with 8 shells I believe and than we continued to do it daily to breakdown the reverse tolerance and now it takes 2-4 shells for me to be feeling the beginning stages. As before it was 8. I am curious to everyone else's replies/answers.

I got some stone on the way, actually me and superkavaman both have some stone on the way. I'm excited to try it, never had it before. I've had WOW before and I think it's pretty good but I didn't like the price they had it for. Seems a little too much.

Is that one of KWKs new strainer bags? If so, what do you think of them? I ordered one, and have been meaning to try it. Much Love Roaddog....
No, it's my own strainer bag, with a patina of kavalactones on the mesh to turn it brown/yellow.

I periodically wash them in hot water and soap to clear the mesh back out.

Ya, once that yellow color sets in there is no turning them white again. LOL. Much Love Roaddog....
