Title is pretty self explanatory but how much kava difference is there between toss and wash and water extraction... it's obviously weaker for the water unless very very specific with it. So if I'm usto like a tablespoon or two of toss and wash shold I use 4 tbsp.. and is there any negatives toss and wash has ? I've noticed the water is cleaner feeling but also weaker it seems idk haha thanks

When I first started drinking kava all, the only prep method I knew of was toss & wash, so that's what I did! It works, and it works well. But, and this is a big one. It can cause dermapothy so much faster than traditional prep. My skin....it didn't thank me ONE bit for that. More potent? Sure, but with a price. Now days I either consume instant kava, or go the distance and prep it with the whole "squeeze and knead" method. It was fun and effective when I started, but over time kava teaches YOU how to use it. This will most likely lead to consuming traditional prep, micronized, or instant. Most importantly, listen to your body. If it's groaning every time you drink unfiltered kava, then try the other methods.

Also you're about right on the money for proportions. Try the 4 tbsp with traditional prep and see how it treats you. 4 tbsp is about an ounce or 28 grams. I use about 6 to 6 1/2 tbsp and have been for about 3 or so years. Before that I was using closer to 70 grams which eventually ended up being too much.

How many cups of water do you use for the 6 and half tbsp ? And yeah that makes alot of sense I definitley notice more dryness all around ( mouth eyes ect.) When toss and washing... same with hunger . I didn't get the munchies yesterday from the kava which I usually do. But I did two days ago which was water extract so who knows. Kava is such an interesting plant. I don't miss the days when it never really worked at all haha... also does anyone use soy lechtin for the water extract? ... I'm full of questions but should it feel oily when extracting kava with the muslin bag ?

I use 450ml of water (or almost 2 cups)

I've used lecithin in the past and didn't find it added anything substantial. Just increases the viscosity of the water.

Should it feel oily when extracting kava with the muslin bag ?
Yes! This means you're extracting the kavalactones into the water.

The second time I used lechtin and warmer water than the frst time and it was way oilier.. I couldn't tell if it was the lechtin or not though. Because the first time it wasnt oily ... still had an effect tho but shortlived.... one more question... haha. Should I mix the kava and water together and blend then strain through the muslin and kinda rub it out. Or do I just put the kava into the muslin bag and dip and rub in the warm water? Or am I just over thinking and their the same haha

I personally don't blend mine, but other people here do use the blender. I just dump my kava in my strainer and go to town kneading it. After 10 minutes I put my bowl in the refrigerator to drink later that night.

Yep, that's right. I heat my water to about 120°f before hand and knead and squeeze the kava in my strainer bag in the container.

i have noticed a slight increase in the duration of effects when i use lecithin and a definite increase in duration and potency of effects when i use hot water. i also drink my kava as soon as i'm done kneading it. no patience for the fridge. my wife and i both like to drink it warm but we also both like the taste so to each their own
