ideas to potentiate kava?

grapefruit juice?  maybe why:  grapefruit juice is known to interact with certain medications, either making them useless or increasing their concentration in the body.

vitamins/minerals/amino acids?  maybe why?  might promote the growth of neurotransmitters that kava acts on

keep in mind, kava is reported to be a mild reversible mao-b inhibitor, I wonder if caution is needed during experimenting.

I would dismiss grapefruit juice , While its common for people to think it makes some drugs stronger , that is not the case (I have the unfortunate past of being some what of a drug addict) what it dose do, is causes some drugs to stay in the blood stream longer. for example they say not to drink it with Valium and some other things since Valium lasts forever in your body any ways ( I think the half life is something like 72 hours) drinking grapefruit juice can cause the blood levels of the drug to become concentrated over time. It may however lengthen the effects of Kava, I don't know.

no Idea on the vitamins/minerals/amino acids ; I do think its perhaps a good idea to take a Mutli B Vitamin if you drink kava a lot though.

I did not know Kava was a Mao-B - then again I have never head of Mao-B just -I I'll have to google that one! thanks for the info!

I do think that a good Blending via blender or immersion blender dose get more out of your kava though!

a good potentiator for kava is cannabis ,i heard also that K@ could be mixed with kava, but its kind of a dangerous mix since K@ is a powerful sedative all by itself. who knows what could happen. But ill try it sooner or later with a low dose and give my report .

Yuck, I've tried mixing cannabis and kava. Not fun. Kava should be used as a cannabis substitute, not a cannabis supplement.

actually cannabis was the only reason i felt the kava the first time, thats most probably because kona kava is super weak, i tried a double dose yesterday (57 g or 120ml ) and i finally felt it ,but not alot, it was a nice relaxing buzz without being too much of a narcotic high.

Tea, earl gray, hot. Seriously, any hot liquid will help the kava move around one's tum-tum. I've found taking it with a GABA supplement really changes the experience. Not nessesarily in a good way... it enhances the sense of mental clarity, but it takes away from some of the experience.

The absolute worst drug interaction I've had so far was with Demerol. I became a total asshole, kept hallucinating, could hardly stay awake, etc. Next colonoscopy, I'll make sure it's been at least a week since my last kava, no matter how stressful Buckingham Palace becomes.

Philip, I do find hot liquids make kava kick it up a notch and being winter, adds a nice warm/fuzzy feeling :)

I do have gaba supplements but never tried it as a combo.

I once tried a small amount of phenylalanine at the end of drinking stone. I don't recall an added effect, but the next day my muscles felt like jelly, I'm not sure if phenylalanine had anything to do with it. Then again, I think on that day I also took DMAE.

My experience has been that kava by itself is enough for me.  I do use some lecithin  granules to get the most out of my kava,

You know...I've tried all those tricks and I think I'm with Lanake on this one. Milk, coconut juice, and lecithin doesn't seem to do that much for me. Yeah it tastes nice but I don't really feel I need to put milk or coconut juice in it every time. It's sort of an added luxury now. I've stopped using Lecithin all together.

For an enhance sophoriphic effect, Valerian root. My favorite is in the homopathic muscle relaxant/sleep aid, "Formula 303."

I also posted about what I mix with pretty much every batch or shell, "Life Extension CocoaGold with Beta-Glucan Unsweetened Powder."
