In the Gamugnia language of southern Ethiopia, the word "bula" means "donkey."
Every time someone yells at their donkey (which is every two or three minutes) I start looking for shells of Kava!

I am the program manager for an agricultural development project that is trying to eradicate extreme poverty in hunger-prone areas of Ethiopia. I am an agriculturalist and environmental anthropologist. It is very fulfilling work!
