Just got my first batch of medium grind Moi and micronized Mahakea from GHK and I want to say first that it's a great product. After many frustrations and hand pains I decided yesterday to whip up a larger batch so I brewed about 2 liters. I consumed a little more than half yesterday throughout the afternoon as well as a tablespoon of mahakea and and few puffs of cannabis here and there. Everything was very well to say the least except that I ended up falling asleep early thru to the next day. I had not consumed nearly this much before yesterday, maybe 2-3 shells at most.
Fast forward to today: I woke up fairly early and since i have the day off I was lounging and drinking the kava i had left. Again I smoked two hits of cannabis and proceeded to finish the kava I had left throughout the morning by around 11. I forgot to mention but I was hydrating and did have a few bananas throughout the morning. I made lunch and around 2 had a half cup of coffee (Ive previously abstained from mixing caffeine and kava from past experiences however I was craving a coffee and indulged). Fast forward to about 5:30, I smoked a bowl of cannabis (nothing excessive) and about 5 minutes later I began feeling very anxious. I only rarely have mild anxiety and usually only after smoking cannabis. I used to have a drink which would help but no longer wish to drink alcohol. I immediately noticed kavas effect on anxiety when i first tried it and it has always suppressed anxiety for me. Anyways, I had the worst bout of anxiety I have had since the first time I experienced anxiety which was substance induced. Palpitations, rapid and powerful heartbeat, numbness in arms and face as well as shakiness. Has anyone else experienced this? I am guessing kavas anti anxiolytic effects had warn off and what I got was bad rebound from the caffeine and cannabis maybe?
apologies for tl;dr

Cannabis works like consciousness as in a mirror of emotions thus if one is anxious, it increases.
To me it has nothing to do with Kava. Cannabis is going to overpower Kava, and it will not dilute anxiety your mind creates.

Also Coffee + Kava usually doesn't mix well, and Moi is a stimulating Kava.

I agree about cannabis increasing anxiety .. for years I was fine but as I got access to stronger stuff, more of it and concentrates, it can easily affect my anxiety in bad ways.

Also Kava + Coffee does weird things to me and I've been thinking about making a post to ask others here how they feel ..

This has happened to me three out of three times I've drank coffee with kava now, I don't often drink coffee or caffeine, but sometimes in the later afternoon I will have one cup and then a few hours later I will have some kava.

Basically I feel the relaxing affects of the kava at first with some euphoria and then the euphoria turns into a somewhat cloudy headed "racing feeling" that is so similar to taking too much caffeine that I can't describe it as any other way, it leads to elevated heart rate, more anxiety and jitteryness. It feels basically like a bit of kava mixed with a lot of caffeine.

To me this is very odd considering I had the caffeine hours prior and already felt its affects, it's as if the kavalactones are somehow activating the caffeine again or similar receptors. Maybe it has to do with some of the other drugs coffee contains? I've yet to try this effect with caffeinated teas.

I've been drinking Honokane Iki mixed with KWK Borongoru in different amounts (normally 50/50 or 25% Honokane Iki with 75% Borongoru)

The first time this effect happened the mixture was about 50/50 so the next time I switched to the 75% Borongoru thinking maybe the more sedating effects with less kavain would make a difference but it doesn't really seem to.

Anyone else have similar effects?

Idk I get this as well..
Sativa cannabis will exacerbate the stimulating effect of kava.... whenever I get bad tweaky ness and smoke cannabis it makes it worse ...
If I eat the cannabis however it's much better and actually calms down the effects ...

I've been getting overstimulated from like every kava including nene recently ... I ended up taking a break and felt better... since starting again im getting that tweakyness again .... I'm wondering what's up with it...
It started by me having moI and it just got me sweating and feeling horrible ... then after that it just continued for days no matter what I drank...

I'm not drinking any caffiene at all
And taking no other herbs..

I agree. Of the three or so times I have tried kava and coffee I just got a major headache two of the times. Won't be consuming these two together again, however coffee in the am and kava at night seem to be okay for me.
Kava, coffee, pot, and booze. That's a lot for a body to deal with in a 24 hour window.
No booze, not sure where you read that. I used to drink booze often but had to cut way, way back, this is where kava comes in! Also, I would never mix kava with alcohol.

I've read reports here of large does of kava causing anxiety but that seems to be all. I also have read about rebound anxiety after, as well as the short lived anti anxiolytic properties of kava which I think is what happened for me. The kavas anxiety properties wore off (although I could still feel some of kava's effects) and then I had a bad time from the caffeine and cannabis. I'm sure of this because I the only time get anxiety is from thc and caffeine always makes it worse.

@Kavant what you describe sounds very similar to my experiences as well, THC increases my anxiety and even heart rate etc and caffeine definitely can make that worse.

I don't meet many people that feel the same (pretty much everyone I knows smokes or dabs a lot)

Cannabis is definitely more psychologically addictive to me than Kava, like I can be craving the heady/social effects from the cannabis but at the same time it raises my heartrate and affects my anxiety and breathing, it's a damning conundrum, I'm also incredibly antisocial around most people and basically need cannabis or kava to make me relaxed enough to even want to have a conversation with most people so that makes me feel dependent which is bad.

I realize all of this as it's affected me for years and I've been working on it the best I can. Making slow progress and kava really helps considering it can reduce the urge to use cannabis products.
