It's 2015....Listen to the bell kava enthusiast. It tolls for thee.

I was going to post a thread on misinformation being commonplace here . It's 2015 & folks are setting themselves up as expert enough to tell the uninformed about kava when they themselves are uninformed.
This is an example of one of the most heavily frequented sites for Americans to find information. The reason I didn't is because I don't feel comfortable contacting these sites about their warning when so many negligent companies are selling noble kava laced with tudei & still selling unwanted parts of the plant, & all being done with the consumer trusting these companies to sell what they have labeled to sell. We need to finish sweeping around our own front door first.

Non-Ceremonial Use

Feldman describes two traditional roles of kava. One is for private use among intimates or a select group, and the other is a communal use for public gatherings. An example of a traditional, private setting uses kava for its calming effect on a young man in a highly ceremonialized marriage proposal ritual, and a common public use is to establish a calm environment for community deliberations. Kava use outside of these settings is considered excessive, a kind of overdose or abuse, as it is simply for inebriation.

  • Liver Toxicity
University of Michigan Health Center specialists document significant liver damage from kava use. In Germany, where kava is a legal, over-the-counter stress management drug, there are many recorded cases of liver damage including cirrhosis, some sufficient to require liver transplantation and at least one death. U.S. experience is similar. The kava doses preceding the damage vary from medically prescribed doses for treatment of stress and anxiety to many multiples of recommended doses. An overdose quantity cannot be established. Concurrent use of alcohol lowers the threshold for toxicity.

Chronic Use

Native, life-long kava drinkers who reported themselves as heavy users in the Australian study demonstrated elevated blood enzyme levels indicative of liver damage. They also had smaller than average stature, immune system abnormalities and inadequate nutritional status. Quantization of an exact overdose level was not possible, but you can clearly overdose on kava over time.

There are tons of sites like that. I left one message on Dr. Sleep but got no reply. I say we create a list of those sites and use all our web sites to discredit them, just like they discredit kava. I have talked about a "Kava Hall of Shame" in the past. There we list all the bad sites.

why are so few vendors helping or even participating, how much traffic will this forum need to make that happen, 5,000? 10,000? members; ^ members = more potential for vendors. I would think they'd be lining up to get their products cleared & it's free. I would feel much more comfortable going after these sites if I knew at least 90% of the kava being sold is indeed what the label claims. Taking away red flags when without the flags the consumer is left vulnerable is an iffy thing imo

Perhaps the kavapedia could catalog disinformation/misinformation as well as providing links to articles to rebut the irresponsible posts on sites like livestrong.

@Deleted User01 - Great idea, but how do we avoid giving them a linkback?
Perhaps there is a technique for that. If we give them linkback, then it could be in the context of "Here is a Web Site that intentionally posts misinformation about Kava for their own personal gain. And ... the product they sell totally sucks". Or something like that. That kind of backlink can't be helpful.

As long as the link exists, no matter what the context, it still helps their search engine ratings.

What if we call them out by name but add one letter so the link is useless? Are there any PR guys here? How does on go about changing the tone of other sites? Do we give their Web Site to the Hackers?
::frosty:: Now your talking boss. It's time for non-wussy solutions. Here's another solution. Get their home address and me and the boys hide in the bushes, and then ......
Zombie Attack!! Thanks for the props Hedgie. I only need a little encouragment.

::frosty:: Now I don't want you guys to get the wrong idea. We would only scare the bejeebers and other bodily fluids out of them. We do not condone violence on the Kava Forums.
