A Public Service Warning About Herbal Medicines That Are Not Kava (and Accordions)

News item from the "They Might Be Giants" Facebook page, of all places.

The TMBG guys play up the accordion angle for obvious reasons, but the story has another odd detail that is pertinent to the topic of this Forum.

Quote: "... State investigators said that after killing his friend the accused man took some valerian, a herbal sleeping aid, and lay down for a nap..."

So, one assumes what happened here is that the man had used valerian earlier, had become enraged because he found it to be rather lame and ineffective--not delivering the relaxing effects advertised--with tragic consequences for his musical friend. After murdering and dismembering his friend, he tried the valerian again, in the vain hope that it might actually do something, finally became completely dispirited and then confessed to the murder.

The moral of this story, of course, is that if you choose to play the accordion, @Deleted User, make sure that your friends use safe and effective relaxation aids such as kava.

...and, live from Kava Forums, it's Friday morning!

It's friday and the paste I ordered isn't bad for a quick fix, just more right to the point and ridiculously potent with nothing else too unique about it. Not too satisfied or dissatisfied, it is what it is. I prefer drinking just because I like the experience of it. I gotta be out tonight earlier than expected so I'm not actually drinking any kava though and there will be lots of food and lots of food and kava all at once is a digestive disaster. But later tomorrow after work I have a bag of KWK Loa Waka to try and I'm dying to try it. Especially so since it's snowing and I want nothing to do with anything out there as long as it is.

update: Was out and eating some fried rice and then it hit me and I felt pretty good with a sudden overly elevated mood I didn't expect (that was the most hilarious plate of chinese food I ever had) despite only a little less than a pea size. This is pretty good to take at an earlier time, get an initial buzz and then later in the evening have something fatty and enjoy the rest of it. You can't beat traditional though.

On the plus side he doesn't have to listen to him play the accordion any more...

Yes I will sit down and take my seat on the express train to Hades.

Bronchitis and Kava a nice combo! Well except the bronchitis, but the Kava is it’s own nice combo!

Bula to da hula.

I might be late for last Friday, but then again I’m early for the upcoming one.

I think this is what we call island time.

Bula to da hula.
