Today will officially be my first day switching to kava. Its already been over a day since my last K@ dose, and I haven't had any bad withdrawals or anything. My main concern is that K@ puts me in a foggy mental state and could be illegal soon, while kava leaves me feeling relaxed and mentally clear.

I got some great suggestions from my first thread and appreciate everyone's comments. Right now I just have some mahakea from GHK, but will likely be ordering some papa kea and hanakapi soon. It's been almost a year since I've tried using nothing for pain management during the day. The last time I tried to supplement only kava at night, I was getting a very strange, uncomfortable pressure in my chest which turned me off to the root, but I haven't noticed that at all with any GHK products.

Anyways, I thought I'd share how this works for me to add to the current knowledge base. I have some moderate muscular and joint pain that causes insomnia. Its usually manageable during the day, but the insomnia is killer. Really hoping that I can find some magic with kava this time!

Best of luck with your transition!

If your muscular pain is due to tension, kava should definitely help. You'd be better off with a "heavy" kava than a "heady" kava
for optimum muscle relaxation. I have back pain daily, but it's muscular, and kava makes it vanish every single time. Hope that helps
yours as well.

Meh. It could be going better. My joint pain has been feeling much worse since I've stopped, but I'm sure my brain just needs some time to adjust to life without K@. On a positive note, the mahakea seems to help with the back pain.

Im thinking it'll take at least a couple weeks of experimenting to really figure out how it'll work for me. Might try some different vendors as well.

I would get some ashwaganda root powder if you can.. it will protect your brain from oxidative stress and your adrenals from the fatigue.

I've been here 100% so if you need help let me know !
Kava was a life saver from K@ !

K@ seems to put the organism into a state below thought.. much like alcohol does.

I don't know if you have any experience with Presence or not ?

My favorite kavas are: KWK Fiji Loa, Squanch Waka, GHK Kumakua, GHK Hanakapi'ai, and Cactus Kava Eva. I'm thinking the headier varieties is what you will be interested in, and these are heady.

I'll be giving hanakapi a try soon. The headier kavas do seem to help more with my pain and almost provide a mental distraction

@Mrbinx69 I am not familiar with prescence. Is it a type of philosophy or spirituality?

Also thanks for the suggestions @FYS I looked up those products, and the website had a complete listing of the constituents of the herbal blends. I saw a lot of herbs that I had never heard of before, and I might do a little experimenting with a couple of them. I'm a little nervous about ordering the actual product since some of them are supposedly hard on the liver, so that has me a little concerned about combining it with kava. I know the kava being hard on the liver ordeal is pretty much a myth, but I just want to extra cautious.

Honestly though, I'm a little concerned that the kava is not going to work out for me due to cost. It's been working great and has been doing a great job of helping me sleep, but kava root is incredibly expensive! Before when I was only averaging a tablespoon or two a day it wasn't bad, but now I'm using 5 or more and I'm going through my GHK bags really really fast:banghead:

So I think I've found my answer in hanakapi'ai. It feels like I'm getting all the good effects that I get from Moi and Hiwa wrapped up into one very strong strain. Really working great for me!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone :D
