In various threads I've noticed mention of different kavas being blended. This is something I've started doing more of myself lately. In particular I enjoy the results of blending Hawaiian Kava Center Mahakea (2 parts) and Tudei (1 part). I've also been pleased with the result of mixing the same ratio mix of Tonga and Tudei.
I believe the Paradise Hawaiian Kava is a blend of different Hawaiian kava varieties as well. Wonder if that is one reason it's rated so highly. Different varieties of wine grapes are often blended to enhance the final product. Other times blending can be less than desirable with Kona coffee being an example that comes to mind.
Interested to see what kava blends my fellow kava enthusiasts like or if you prefer not to blend.
