So...I just got a bag of kava out of nowhere.(smiley: happy)
There was a Hawaiian festival in town so my parents brought home a small bag of what they had. I won't be able to try it out until probably next weekend though. I've been drinking cups of ginger powder tea to cure a sore throat.(smiley: frown)

Wow nice score!  Cute packaging too.
So did your parents actually drink it (for the first time?) ? How did they like it?

My dad will have some every once in a while. I mostly give him some when his shoulder gets sore. It's not really a big thing to him but it does at least work a little for him.
The other two won't touch it...ever. They won't drink "muddy water".

Well I just got to actually try it.
It's deceptively light. If it was unlabeled I probably would have guessed it was a Tongan Kava of some kind. It's very woody and a tad smokey. The brew comes out very creamy and silky feeling. This is the first kava that gave me any kind of euphoric kick.  It starts off very heady and energizing and then goes all the way to the other end of the spectrum. After a while it settles somewhere in the middle and stays pretty mellow.
It's a unique experience. (At least it was for me) Give it a shot and see what you all think. I'm going to have to try it again and see if that spectrum shift was just a fluke. I like it though. I'd love to sit back in a big comfortable chair and sip this out of a glass brandy pipe.

I love their logo. Met the owners at the Kava Fest a while back. Good folks!
Speaking of the owners...I didn't a little searching around the website.
It turns out my spidey senses were tingling correctly.(smiley: laugh) This is in fact a variety of Tongan kava. It's a variety of white kava called Hinehina. I really didn't know what in the heck kinda kava this was other than the business is based in Hawaii. I've been scratching my head trying to think of an answer that made more sense...welp...now I know.
I got curious after I tried it a few more times and still got that "spectrum shift" I mentioned earlier. Knowing what I found out now I can say that this is about the only Tongan Kava I've tried that I actually like and would buy again. I Haven't had an oppertunity to try KBR Tongan Lightning but the other few I've had did not really impress me.
I am officially adding this to my list of "Vek's Favs".
* In no particular order1. Paradise Hawaiian2. BKH Boroguru3. KavaBoy Hinehina

Always good to have another kava retailer. I haven't tried any of their kava, but I kind of want the Kava Boy shirt.

Interesting. I think that one is grown in Tonga. The duty free section at Fua'amotu Airport is half devoted to kava and when I was stocking up there last year I noticed they all had packaging like that. Not the "kavaboy" thing on the front, I mean the style of labelling on the back (royal kava hawaii). Some of them made no mention at all of Hawaii but the people in the shop told me it was all identical product. So I guess that they all have the same root but just vary the packaging based on where they'll export it to.

Yup, it's from a family owned farm in Tonga.
They ship it to Hawaii and package it there according to the website.

How many TBSP or grams did you use with Kavaboy Vekta? Is it the same dose as when you drink BKH Boroguru?

I'm a noob and fucked up and ordered Kona Kava, didn't feel shit. Deciding on which one to order now between the two (Kavaboy and Boroguru).

Also, could you shed some light on how you prepare your kava?

Your comment that kavaboy was the only one that gave you euphoria really intrigued me...

I typically use 2 tbsp kava in 10-16 oz. of water with whatever kava I have on hand.
You may find a method that best suits you here... Kava Wiki

Thanks for the quick reply. Nice wiki page!

Was there a noticeable strength difference between BKH Boroguru and Kavaboy for you?

They do different things. What is strong to me may not suit you the same way. Strength is somewhat subjective with regard to kava and the people that drink it.

I think regardless of which one you choose you will probably be pleased at the difference between them and Kona Kava. Haven't tried Kava Boy myself but Vekta knows his shit.

I guess what I'm basically looking for is to get recreationally krunk off of it with lowest side effects. Getting bored of alcohol, poppy tea is addictive, etc.

Is the high really all that imperceptible?

I have not heard a single good thing about the potency of Kona Kava here on the forums. Try Boroguru, its one of the best potency/$ kavas around in my opinion. It is definitely not imperceptible if you use enough good kava (some people, like me, seem to be hardheads... I need about 6 tbsp of boroguru to get anywhere).
