Kava Brownies

I just made kava brownies, used about a cup of kava... can't wait to see how they turn out!  Has anyone else tried this?  Either way I will let you all know.

I always hear at around 110 degrees(not sure of the exact number) kavalactones are destroyed.

There's probably a way to get it into food though. I'll be interested to know the results.

yes please report! Another idea would be to prepare some grog and substitute the water for that.

These sound great :) My one slight concern is that would the fact that you're filling your stomach with brownies at the same time as ingesting kava. Since people tend to get better results on an empty stomach, would that be a problem? Can't wait to hear how they turn out.

I doubt the actives would all be destroyed. Before I knew any better I always used to boil my kava and I could still get krunk from a normal amount.

Baking, the internal temp isn't getting extremely high..lower than boiling..Brownies are probably done at around 160-170 internally. The only concern would be that they would be subjected to temps over 120 for 8-10 minutes.

Ok I made and tried the Kava Brownies... two things to note they do work I ate a whole brownie and I got a small buzz.. the bad news is they taste like shit... its kind of like the bad taste of kava except you cant just swallow it you have to chew it first and taste over and over again.  So over all I would say its a failure... I will be trying something else though perhaps like a fruit popsicle.

I made brownies from instant Kava once. The taste was horrendous. Although, I feel like the heat *did* something to the lactones. I mean the tiniest nibble was active.
