Kava for us in Europe?

kl.Euphoric lemur

Kava Curious
I just ordered from nakamalathome and got my delivery today. I had to pay an import fee, 50$.... (smiley: eek) I didn't expect that. The Shipping cost was 58$ also.
Instant Kava Kava Powder (250 g or 0.551
lbs.)
Lecithin Granules 75g
Black Sand Kava (1/2 kilogram (500 g) or 1.1
lbs.)
Kava Preparation Cloth Strainer Bags Small (Coarse
Weave)
I had to pay 232$ for these items. Now that is too much for me. (smiley: sick)
Does anyone here know a cheaper alternative? Where can one buy kava that doesn't ruin you and still give you a relaxed happy feeling. As you can guess by my user name I am wanting some euphoria.
Maybe paradisekava? Does the extract they sell also give euphoria?

My shipping fees were also $58.00 (through a mail forwarder) with N@H, with an additional duty, brokerage, tax etc. fee of $28.00.  I'm new to Kava, but I'm learning that the powerful rewards are not without a 'pinch' LOL  In the last month I've spent over $300 from various vendors as well.  Mind you, a bit of that could be considered one-time starter costs (shells, bags).  I've found that I must investigate every avenue and find the best cost effective solution for me or else it could easily spin out of control!  Are there no resellers in europe?  I know I have seen quality kava on herbal/botanical sites based in EU.. can't remember which ones.. but they're out there.

BTW, I haven't used Paradise yet and I've heard they offer great products, but they are a tad pricier compared to other vendors.

I'm new to kava and I just ordered from nakamalathome too (stone and instant powder), the shipping cost is around 40 dollars.
Also ordered Waka Kava from Pacifickava (free shipping) and some kava from Paradieskava...
I can hardly wait........
But I really hope there wont be any import fees! (Switzerland)

@Synaptik if I find out the best way for me I'll post it here. I know no good vendours in europe. I heard from my father that it's easier to get that fee from packages from USA. I have ordered stufff from Canada and Japan many times and never gotten a fee. 51$ is a silly hard pinch!
@Mike update us about how it goes with that. I want to order the extract from paradisekava. I really hope you won't get that import fee. Pacifickava don't ship from USA? Bigger chance to avoid the fee, I think.

I just got the order from nakamalathome, the postman woke me up at 08:00 in the morning :)... that was really fast (5days). I got Stone, Fire Island Instant Kava, an example of Shaman Instant kava and a strainerbag (which does not look really usefull). Ordered another strainerbag from kickbackwithkava.

As soon as I got the other stuff I will update it:

- Waka Kava from Pacific Kava

- Kava Extract (Honey & Lemon) and Kava Powder from Paradieskava

...just tried the fire island instant kava (2 tablespoons) but it was disappointing. Nausea and a light relaxation (5mins) was the result.

Tomorrow i will try the stone...

Try the fire island atleast 4 times. The first time I didn't  feel anything either. But today I really felt it the 4th time. Don't waste so much now in the begining before you can feel it.

Paradies Kava: for me a very good tasting kava... but to rate the effects of the kava generally i need to drink a few shells more I think

Paradies Kava extract: v. good, I felt the effects today in the office and nearly felt asleep :)

Stone Kava: taste = medium / not bad... the effects are good

Fire Island Instant: for me this tastes v. yuck... and I did not feel much so far... mabye i had a bad one. I've heard that the quality of instant kavas may variate much

sorry for my english

That shipping is crazy. The site i got my stuff from says they ship world wide for free. islandkava.com

Don't know if anyone overseas has ordered from them but for a $58 difference its worth a shot. Cheers.

Hi,

This is my first post here and I hope you will forgive me promoting my business but in about two weeks you will be able to buy Kava from within the EU, my company is based in Dublin Ireland and my Kava is from Vanuatu. I have Kava from Malekula, Pentecost, Tanna and Maewo. I have Kava roots (which must be strained through a muslin cloth or to be honest I find a pair of womens tights work just fine!) and Micronised Kava Powder (this can simply be mixed with water and drank very simply).

I also have a wonderful new product - Lava Cola, its a ready to drink Kava Cola containing Kava extracted using a totally natural water based extraction method (no chemicals/alcohol used). It has all the strength of a strong shell of Vanuatu Kava but with none of the bitter taste! The only thing artificial about it is the Cola syrup we use to give it its flavour. Its the most natural Anti-Energy Drink around!

My site www.globalkavaexports.com will be live in the next fortnight and we have free shipping to all of Europe. We charge around the same as the companies in the Pacific but you can avoid customs/import charges and also receive your goods in only a couple of days after payment. You can also pay using Euro, Pounds Sterling or Us Dollar.

I hope to share not only my products with you but also to generally talk Kava and everything to do with Kava.

Im really sorry my first post has been a promotion of my business but when I saw that you were so tired of all the hidden expenses from ordering from so far overseas.

Good to meet you. Don't abuse the sticky threads. We love to see vendors join, we love to drink kava, and we love to try novel preparation methods.

You can even post Youtube videos.

Hey, welcome! It's always good to know of kava vendors. Kava Cola? Sounds awesome, I'm not sure if you've ever heard of Mary Jane's soda? It's a kava based cola type beverage. I'm still not convinced it ever contained any kava. Tasted pretty bad too.

Hey,

Yes mate it had micronised Kava root powder in it, but you need a good two tablespoons of that stuff to get an effect and it does taste really awful, you are literally consuming the root....they could never fit enough in a bottle to give a proper effect. Also I dont like the way they put a Cannabis leaf on a Kava product...nothing against Cannabis but why confuse them. You must be on the West coast of the States if you tried Mary Jane, I think its only sold there right?

I've tried a few things from the flavored beverage market.  The only one I've really liked so far is "Take 10 for Sleep."  For some reason, it either pulled out of the US Retail market, or their primary marketer pulled them.  I hope the above positive review didn't somehow convince the stores selling the product that it was a drug of abuse.

The other stuff I drank... some nasty purple crap called "Sippin' Syrup," it's blue zero-cal counterpart, and some other for-sleep 1-oz shot who's name escapes me now, all struck me as being not-kava in a way that Take 10 for Sleep didn't.

Definitely sounds like that stuff worked, Passionflower etc have very little effect, possibly none ( correct me if I'm wrong, Im no expert on those herbs) , it seems like it was a worthwhile Kava product. I don't know why it dissapeared though I do know a lot of people are opting for Melatonin instead of Kava, maybe they went down that route, they wouldn't be the first, especially in the states (by the way I have nothing against Melatonin, I use it quite often myself). I just know because synthetic Melatonin is easier to source etc some drinks manufacturers go with it instead of Kava. Personally I just love Kava.

'Sippin Syrup' sounds like drowsy cough syrup, any idea of the actives in it?

It does sound nasty, especially as there is a dreadful little song  about codene abuse by just about the same name.

One of the things that raised my eyebrows on it was that it had vitamin D.  Not D3... just "D."

Kava was the last herbal ingredient listed, under Skullcap, St. John's Wort, Hops, Rose Hips, and Valarian, Melatonin, L-Theanine, Lavender, and Chamomile, in reverse order.  All herbs in extract form.  The actual syrup component comes from an extract of high-fructose corn (maize).
