Kava in Europe

Hi guys, just registered here. 
After 13 years of dealing with anxiety I'm looking into more natural supplements to feel calm, and Kava seems to be very promising. 
I live in Norway, and like most EU countries it's not allowed to sell Kava locally here, but due to EU trading rules we are allowed to order up to 3 month supply from another EU country. Now this appears to be a showkiller for someone interested in getting high quality Kava:There are a few netshops selling Kava in Europe (like BIOVEA based in UK, they have 250mg EuroVital capsules), but from what I am reading here from people who have access to real Kava drinks the regular 200-250mg capsules are way weak. It also seems like lots of the capsules are not high quality stuff.
So apparently there are no EU netshops selling quality stuff like Paradise Kava. Due to the same regulations any package containing Kava shipped from Fiji, Hawaii etc will be destroyed or returned by customs if stopped. And I recon there's a 99% chance a package containing i.e. 500grams of any kind of powder will be stopped by customs. 
Seems to be a bunch of Kava lovers in Europe as well so I'm interested in a bit of input on this:Are there any European netshops that actually has the high quality stuff ? Are there tricks on shipping etc when ordering from non-EU countries to raise the chances of the Kava passing through customs ?How do europeans get their high quality Kava?

Hi there, welcome. I have no idea if there are any decent kava vendors in Europe, but I'd be very interested to know if there are any also. I think there are a few Europeans on here who regularly buy kava from the States (me included) without much trouble, though it seems to depend on where in Europe you are. I think the Germans have a lot more trouble than people in the UK for example. Have you heard from other Norwegians specifically on their experiences?

No I have not found any local forums with norwegians so far. Took a chance and ordered a batch of Paradise Kava last night, will keep you guys updated. If you don't mind me asking, what size bags do you usually order? And are there any special instructions you ask the vendor on how to ship (label etc) ?

I usually order a 1/2 kg at a time. I try to keep my order below $50 because once it goes above that the customs guys here look for import duty on anything coming from outside Europe. I'm not so bothered about paying the duty, but that they might inspect the package and confiscate the kava! No harm in asking the vendor to make the package as inconspicuous as possible, I'd say Adil at Paradise Kava will do as good a job as is possible in that regard (smiley: smile)Hopefully you'll have no trouble getting your order through, let us know how it goes.

I actually placed an order on 1/2 kg this weekend from Paradise Kava, read a lot of good reviews. However I just emailed them asking if there's a chance I can switch to 2 x 1/2 Lbs (223g) in separate packages instead to raise my chances of getting it through customs. Will keep you guys updated on the process.

PS midas: Roughly how much of the Paradise Kava do you use per serving ?

For most Kavas I've tried, I use 2 heaped tablespoons of kava to 3 cups of water. That's my usual anxiety relief dose It probably differs from person to person as well as kava to kava though. 2 tablespoons is actually a pretty small dose relative to what other people on here seem to use. I'd say start off with 2 or 3 tablespoons and adjust from there.

Adil on ParadiseKava seems like a really nice guy, he has been very helpful and understanding with changing my order after it was finalized etc. So now I'll just have to wait another 14 days and see. Hopefully I'll get a package instead of a negative letter from customs

I recently sent some kava candy to Norway without any problem, but I typically put Hawaiian Candy on the customs forms and the packs are a little more discrete...maybe I have just gotten lucky, but so far so good
