Kava makes it better

So Christmas is here and my family is doing the same thing they do every year. It's a shame when they distinctly admit to counting heavily on what's under the tree to make Christmas good. But this year is different, at least for me. I made me a big shell of Tongan and talked with a few buddies if mine, just talked and said Merry Christmas. That's what a good Christmas is to me, just being around good people. An you know...the Kava is kicking in right now. It's a warm, happy, lighter-than-air and totally relaxed feeling.

Merry Christmas All.

I totally agree man. This christmas was great, being able to spend time with the family drinking kava and feeling in a total state of bliss and happiness. That is what this holiday is about, appreciating what you have, not what your going to get. I think kava brings out that side of you that makes you content with what you have.

Merry Christmas Vekta and everyone else here on this forum! Hope your Christmas is great!

BTW Vekta, did you make tongan by N@H or KBR? Just curious :D
It's N@H. I got a $50 gift certificate from an Aunt down south (forced gift exchange...don't ask (smiley: laugh) ) so I got me a bunch of stuff from N@H. I think Tongan is going to dethrone Solomon as my kava of choice. Out of all of them that I've tried this one hits me the fastest and gives me the most pleasant high.

Merry Christmas Vesuvio!(Thumbsup)

Im going to order some tongan tommarrow. Anything that can dethrone soloman I would like to try!

Ive had all but white sand and fiji from N@H. But back when I started, I never drank the bottom, so I was really missing out. Its almost like I have to go back and REALLY try these varietys. All I remember about Tongan from N@H is I couldent even hold my eyes open haha. Cant even imagine how it is when you drink it all. Im kinda mad at myself, because that makes me really want to try out black sand again. I might just get a bunch of 250 G bags of different stuff, since the whole 2 tbsp a cup Im going with now should save me a load of kava :D

I find it really convenient to knead and squeeze the kava right in the shell. I have big shells with cup stands so it's easier. Down the shell before the "dust" settles. I did 3 washes with the same 2 tbsp of root in the shell like this today and I felt it for about 5 hours after I was done. It was great.

You can always avoid the grit settling and just mix with the shell. I've never tried to squeeze Kava in the shell, though. I typically make Kava 2 cups at at time, if I'm flying solo. It gets difficult when you're making something really thick and rooty like Chief's Jungle.

Ive never tried to knead in the shell, but im going to try using the same wash for a couple batches. The 2 tbsp per cup really saves a shit ton of kava.

Same here, I found myself a while ago going through a 500G of soloman in a little over a week.... Now I still have soloman in my cabinet (not much tho) but I recieved it around Nov 25. I went and bought some N@H varietys with my christmas money I got. I bought a bunch of 250g bags because I know they will last quite some time. Cant wait to get my hands on wow, stone, chief jungle and tongan again. Oh its been a while.

On a side note, Nakamal At Home makes some GREAT kava, but I really just think they want you to run out of kava faster so you order more. Thus the 1 cup to 2 cups method they present. But hey thats kind of a good idea to trick newcomers? Still wrong tho, honestly.

I think the method they use is for very course ground kava, and probably is close to what they use in their actual kava bar. I like to believe the best of people, though.

I don't think that is Nakamal at Home's intention at all, really. Because Kava is such an unstable substance, I think they want to make sure people are happy with the results.

Also, I think they assume that people know what they're doing. Once you've made a lot of Kava, it becomes quite obvious how much you need. I rarely ever measure it out.

By the way, where N@H does provide instructions I think it is meant for Chief's Jungle. With Chief's 1:3 seems reasonable.

I'm still using a measure. I need to stop, because so much root sticks to the side of whatever tool I'm using to measure.

On the plus side, I started eating raw Vanuatu Tudei. It tasted very good, much like fresh cracked black pepper. I seriously could put some on a shaker and use it as a steak or hamburger seasoning. It's that good.

Thats true too. Also maybe when you first start you need much more than someone who has paid their dues. I wasent trying to make it sound like there bad people. I was just thinking about allll that kavaaa (smiley: sick).

Had some tongan last night, was reallly good. I know what you mean douglas as being the perfect weekday kava. Very mild and very pleasant. But not sure about the dethroning soloman. Its just too damn good.
