Hey everyone!

My name's billy and i'm new here. I've been reading about kava kava online quite a bit recently, and it seems like something I would like to try.

You see, I have struggled with anxiety for most of my life, and I do not drink alcohol, even in social settings. I have found meditation and marijuana to be more effective than pharmecuticals for anxiety, however marijuana does carry with it a unusual "wasted" effect for me ( in specific, I cannot talk due to slurred speech, even in small amounts). This makes it unusable in many settings and thus leaving me with nothing to help me in case I have anxiety when away from my Home. As well, I stopped drinking alcohol due to the dysfunction it caused in my life, but now when my friends and I are out having drinks I feel rather left out and bored.

Hence, I see two possible uses for kava kava in my life: one use as a "chill pill", to ease anxiety when I cannot or would rather not retreat to my home, and another as a substitute for alcohol so I can still enjoy myself with friends without having to risk causing myself turmoil.

So, that said, I have never tried kava kava before, and made this account here to ask for advice.

First up, I was wondering about the different types of kava- as I said above, I would be using it for anxiety, so I would want something with a more "chill" effect, although I am very much interested in exploring the different types of kava kava, As I might want a different effect or combination thereof in social situations.

Secondly, the route of administration- I like the idea of drinking kava, however it might be hard to carry a drink in my pocket for daytime anxiety, and as someone who has already switched to using e-cigarettes for smoking cessation, the noble clouds e-liquid has caught my eye. I've also read about gum and strips, and these sound just as good. Obviously I want to try it first before I get any of these, but I am still open to any ideas.

So, can anyone recomed a good first time kava that I could get online in Canada? And what should I look for if I find it nice and would like to carry some with me?

Thanks,
Billy.

P.S not sure if it's just me, but these forums have a really chill vibe I'm liking it :)

Hi @Billy Welcome to our tiny slice of the internet. Sounds like kava is just what you're looking for. Gourmet Hawaiian Kava's sample packs are a great place to start as are Bula Kava House's sample packs. It will give you enough to give a good try of a number of different types of kava. I would say "this kava is heady" or "this kava is a heavier type" but honestly it really boils down to your own personal chemistry. Hence the recommendation for the sample packs.

If you're looking to carry some kava with you, look no further than kalm with kava's pre-made drinks, and Kava Kava Candy by Ozia. Both are excellent for carrying with you, especially the candies.

In regards to noble clouds, having met the owners and spent some time with them, they're legit. Good guys, and a great product. I wouldn't say the eliquid will give you the same effect as a shell full of traditionally prepped kava, but it's great to add a little extra onto your kava session, that's for sure.

Enjoy your stay with us, and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Edit: Also, don't worry about our software censoring some of the words. It's there solely to be sure google and such aren't caching kava with other substances.

Welcome to the Forum @Billy. ::awesomesmiles:: Mannnn, it's hard to recommend specific Kava because you never know how a person's biochemistry will react. It's like a friend of mine in college who told me that caffeine pills (No Doze) put her to sleep. In the mid afternoon, I normally start feeling crappy for whatever reason. I will take 1 or 2 doses of Moi (a heady kava) and it gives me a total attitude adjustment. I'm back to my normal cheerful talkative self. My customers don't know this but they like me a lot better after I've had my Mo'i. Now some people say Mo'i makes it hard for them to sleep so I take 1 dose of Nene at about 6pm before supper. Three hours later, I'm worn out and ready for a long deep sleep. I think you need to try some sample packs and figure out what is best for you. Good luck!

Welcome! Gourmet Hawaiian Kava has sampler packs that give a shining example of the kava spectrum. Kalm keeps getting positive reviews as well, in regards to on-the-go and public setting type drinks. I think an evening's worth of Micro or instant kava would be easy enough to bring along in a small 4oz snap-shut container. Like four or so tablespoon's worth would fit perfectly into one of those. Just tap a rounded teaspoon or more into a small amount of water and shoot it. Wait 20 minutes before taking more, before you understand its effects. I always make sure I fast for at least four hours before consuming. Also extracts are an option. They can be more expensive and I personally would start with medium grind or micro before I started shelling out dough on extracts, but to each his own. Extracts are convenient.

Lastly, consider getting a reusable water bottle that isn't see-through. That way you don't have to explain what the muddy water is that you're drinking. Once again, welcome!
