Another 52-year-old man from Kolofo’ou reported 81 of his kava plants were stolen from his plantation at Masilamea on April 5.

At least its being responded to hopefully it helps ensure kava as a safe plant to grow... unlike some other botanical that when are stolen are also not helped by anyone.

That is real bad news. I remember when it was a real bad situation here in Hawaii. We actually started putting microchips in the old kava plants in the forest. We got funding for that from the Department of Defense. Strange ya. They were looking into kava for there military men. I wonder what ever happened to that, I wonder if they ever did anything with kava.
I know that Mr. Pinner from Pinner creek organics stopped growing kava here in Hawaii because of the theft problem.
I hope they catch the thieves. Aloha from Hawaii
