I'm trying to find the best way to prepare Kava... but the quantity of
kava powder in water is between 2% and 25 % according to differents
sources !

Do you agree the best way is 1 part kava powder + 16 parts water for
normal kava
, and 1 powder + 8 water for strong ?

Is 1/16 always a good way ?

It seems that some kava varieties should be mixed with less water (see Kava
by Rex), but how to know wich varieties have to be prepared so ???

If the powder is not very fine, should I put more powder in the water ?

Do you think kava for a "big" kava party should be as soft as 1/27 ?

What do you think about 1/22, 1/30, 1/40, 1/50 that Kule'a Farm or
Pacific Kava recommend ?

How many lecithin do you put in 1 litre of water please ?

To make strong kava that is prepared in a traditional way, you need to use between 2 and 5 parts warm water to 1 part kava. A finer grind means you can use less kava. Most U.S. kava bars that I've asked, mine included, use an approximate ratio of 400 grams of kava for every gallon of water, which usually breaks down to about a 3 to 1 water to kava ratio. If you are willing to spend more time processing the mixture i.e. soaking, kneading, blending, etc. you can use a higher water to kava ratio as well. Hope that helps.

That sounds pretty reasonable Judd. My ratio is less than that so kneading is mandatory for me. 2 parts water: 1 part Kava sounds like a nice end of the week kava fix.

So :
VEKTA :1/2 : 50%
JUDD :- traditional way : 1/2 to 1/5 : 50% to 20%- kava bars : 1/3 : 33%NoneSorry, but i'm surprised to read these tips... Especially after reading this :http://kavalounge.yuku.com/reply/398/New-to-Kava-Suggested-cultivar Kavasseur/Vesuvio wrote :

But thank you. I'll try several ratios...

it's just something you have to get a feel for. it varies a lot with your preparation, and the kava you use. like others, i used way too much when i started out. you can always water it down, or make another batch with the same root if it's too thick.

i also rarely use the lecithin. it does seem to increase the effects a bit, but i feel it's not worth it. i like to use warm water. i guess i use about 3/4 cup kava to a gallon of water, but i never actually measure it out.

VOODOO :
1/5 to 1/4 (20% to 25%)Thank you.What would you recommend :
trying high quantity of kava in water, then decrease it gradually from days to days to find the best ratio ;
or trying low quantity of kava in water, then increase it gradually from days to days to find the best ratio ?

i think you are better off starting with a higher amount of kava root. if you use the strainer bag method, you can make a second batch with the same root. i think you've hit the sweet spot when the first batch comes out nice and creamy, and any second batch is really thin.
