Kava questions

Hi , everyone, i had a few questions regarding kava .

Ive been drinking kava for a few months now, about 2-3 times a week , and i must say i really enjoy the effects, its much nicer than alcohol and others, I use Isa/tudei from kava by rex and tongan pride .

id like to know what is your average dosage to water ratio , i use 70-75g to 5 cups of water + 2 tbsp soy lecithin + 1 tablespoon honey. If i have soymilk or milk ill use half water half milk. ( i mix like 70 % of upper kava (tongan) with 30 % downer kava(isa/tudei) for a nice balance)

also does anyone get any of these symptoms after kava : drying of lips, increased muccus production(have to spit every 5 minutes no joke) ,

Other than that, kava is awesome, no hangovers ,you sleep so well..... and  my dreams quite lucid.

55-60 grams to 1 3/4 cups of water, heat water for 1:10 or until it reaches 120. Soak kava for 30 minutes, and knead for 20.

Yes, and yes. My lips dry out pretty much instantaneously. And yes to the mucous production. Nose runs, can't clear my throat. This usually only happens after really large wallop of kavalactones such as the preparation above.
Other than that, kava is awesome, no hangovers ,you sleep so well..... and  my dreams quite lucid.
Absolutely. It's all about squeezing an extra hour or two out of the little sleep I get, and it works well!

55-60 g / 1 3/4 cup water is alot! damn so that means you dont get the RT ?

I soak my kava for 30 minutes too in warm water (2.5 cups boiling + 2.5 cold water) + 5 minutes in the blender on liquefaction.

So do you think i should do the same as you? cuz drinking 5 cups of kava is a pain, at the 3rd and 4th cup i get the gag reflex, i do chase my kava with cold water but still.

Im just wondering, do you get all kavalactones out with that little water ? Doesnt seem like alot.

Oh, I'm through my reverse tolerance stage. Actually did it by accident with Gaia Herbs caps. I've been drinking kava for a little over 7 years now, daily. So far I've stayed at this amount. Day to day it can vary a bit in effect, but overall it's consistent.

Well, I probably don't extract all the kavalactones, seeing as I rarely, if ever, do a second wash. Don't get me wrong, this method tastes nothing near good, it's horrible. It comes out to a product of about 10-12 oz of kava which is thick, and yes it's nice and bitter. I can down this in a few gulps and I'm done! It's plenty strong, as on most nights I get that feeling like my eyes are crossed and I can't focus on one thing for any amount of time.

In this situation I'm using Nakamal @ Home's Stone.

Hey Smash, i do a similar method as kapm but i use 1 cup of kava to 2 cups water and then drink 3-4 ounces of kava, Im not sure how much 60 grams of kava is, is that about .5 cup?

Yes, the benefit is that you dont need to drink large quantities of kava, but its also easy to drink way too much since its so concentrated.

70 g equals 2/3 of cup , so youre probably using like 100 g or so  .

Do you guys use anything to make your kava taste better ? Or do most of you drink it straight?

I prefer just straight up kava root and water. I've tried using things like ginger and almond milk in the past but I prefer to taste the kava on its own.

i slam it and do a chaser of almond milk, seems to help. I also like something salty to take away the taste. i know fruit is popular but salty works for me.

I used to used much more water/coconut per root ratio but since then have been using a 3:1 or 2:1 ratio. I typically will heat 4 ounces of water to a cup and boil in the microwave and then dissolve a teaspoon of soy lechtin into it. Then add it to a 16 ounce can of coconut water and then add about a cup of good root, usually a mixture of different strains unless it is a bedtime batch and the it is just just stone or boroguro/stone. Allow it to sit for a hour and then blend and squeeze for awhile and enjoy. I usually make a second wash and halve the amount of liquid to compensate for the fact that the grog will be 50% weaker and it is a great primer as I wait for me next batch to soak.

One time I tried to add some water flavoring to it... it turned out awful. Another time I tried to use tea water and it tasted like soap.

I just drink it straight with warm water. It seems to help if I let it sit and mellow out in my mouth with saliva.
