Kava safety questioned due to case reports of liver toxicity
**Expert analyses of case reports say insufficient evidence to make causal connection**
Kava lovers, attached is a rather frank document written in 2002 about the identification of adverse event reports, their interpretation and the subsequent banning of kava in most European countries.
It's rather eye opening, and quite similar to what we've been thinking for a long time.
It seems tons of experts were consulted, but few if any were actually heard. The resounding opinion seems to be that there was far from enough evidence to justify the removal of kava products from the market, but that didn't seem to slow Germany's pharmaceutical board down a bit.
