@Judd Rench will have to speak for himself.

But, it's not really a secret. It's not recommended for daily use, it's from Papua New Guinea.

The Market Forces around the sale of Isa are a bit weird. How do you explain that it's really not an ideal kava for everyday drinking without invoking the Law of the Forbidden or actively marketing against it?

I have mixed views on koniak. It tastes nasty(mostly from the pine flavor), but it is very powerful. As a person who wanted to try out kava root powder, koniak is definately not for the newbs. Koniak puts anxiety down real quick and for a long time. It's not bad, and is something I would recommend to people with really bad anxiety. I had really bad anxiety, and koniak obliterated it for 3 days.

I find ISA to be the best culinary kava. Sure, for baking you want to use a very fine, highly processes kava like WOW/Five Star, but as a basis for salad dressing or as a steak seasoning, ISA is very peppery/piney and has a rich, complex flavor that sits really well on a ribeye. Try it.
