Hot off the press, this research study adds even more evidence to the cancer-reducing capabilities of kavalactones. Mice fed a kavain diet of .6% showed a range of cancer-reducing functions connected to RAS oncogenes. Those given the mutant HA-RAS gene died from urinary cancers in 5-6 months, while the kavain-fed mice lived much longer and experienced less hyperplasia. Bladder weights in the kavain group were 56% lower than the control group. The results suggest kavain may help reduce bladder cancer by altering metabolism in tumor cells.

Always fascinating, thank you/mahalo nui loa! So many fragmented parts of kava show cancer prevention as, obviously, the aqueous "whole" beverage does.
A favorite part- "...fed with kawain food."
Let's add some history...in virtually all of these papers the name G. G. Steiner pops up. He is a Dentist on O'ahu who (in 2000) wrote the paper that really
started it all...that papers conclusion (mostly observational) :

"Results/conclusions: The data indicates that the more kava consumed by a population the lower the cancer incidence for that population. The data suggests there is a close inverse relationship between cancer incidence and kava consumption."

I was reading Kirk Huffman yesterday and he nails it down with this statement: "Kava has come from the Pacific to help relax the West at a time when 'stress' is one of 'our' civilizations major characteristics, but has been refused by the West for unfounded and minuscule health concerns, amongst other things." Let's hope we, the west, can wake up for yet another gift that kava has bestowed on us.

Both articles were great. Thanks.
