Making kava taste better?

I was wondering if I added milk or pineapple juice to the mixture, how much I would add to let's say 8 oz 1 serving of kava. Add 1 oz milk?

I don't know how much you would need to add, that's probably just something you'll want to try different options and see what tastes good to you.

Lately I've been mixing my kava with unsweetened white grapefruit juice, and I use anywhere from half juice/half water, to all juice. Really makes the kava easier to drink for me.

I tried blending my brew with pinapple. It came out slushy. It was like a smoothie with mud.

I'd imagine you'd want a juice with the least viscosity. I think I'm going to try what ed said, grape fruit juice.

I actually like the tastes of a lot of kavas but not all. When I was experimenting to find out what I could do to make certain kavas taste better, I tried the whole mixing with fruit juice thing and it just didn't cut it for me most of the time. I don't think the juice was strong enough to overpower the kava bitterness. What does taste really good, though, is to make a super strong batch of kava and then dilute the finished kava/water beverage after the fact with either chocolate almond milk or horchata. They both made a really nice tasting end product, especially the chocolate almond milk. Yum!

I sometimes add a dash of cinnamon to my bowl of kava, but because I prefer the nutty peppery tones of kava over the bitterness that comes with it. Cinnamon seems to do a good job of toning down the bitterness and letting the nutty undertones come out more, I like that. I don't worry too much about making kava itself taste better, as I prefer to have fresh cut fruit or some other light snack in a bowl to chew on after I've had a shell. Nothing enough to fill your stomach, but enough to soothe your tastebuds if it's a particularly bitter kava. For me it's just root and water, I enjoy the "WOW OH WOW" feeling of chugging bitter kava. Makes it feel more worthwhile, I don't know. I like it.

I use an unsweetened chocolate powder to make kava taste better. Specifically, I use CocoGold powder from Life Extension Foundation. Chocolate is a different type of bitter and takes some of the edge off kava by offsetting the monotony of the flavor.

I add just a little bit of milk to a shell before chugging it. I find it vastly improves the taste. I haven't measured the milk; I just put a little in, like how much you might put into a cup of coffee.

Great with horchata, too.

I'll have to try the cinnamon; that sounds nice.

Juices which are a bit acidic seem to work well. Pineapple apple mix for better sweetness is good.
IMO, The best juice to mix into kava is passionfruit or what we call Lilikoi in Hawaii. It's taste is just perfect for kava!
You may be able to get it frozen at your local health food store.
