“Kava drinkers live in their own world and to penetrate that world is very difficult - to even talk to kava drinkers you have to have the right approach,” says Mr Koloamatangi.
To suggest someone's activity or a group's activity is engulfing and difficult to traverse and communicate across, is a warning for me. First you are a labeled a difficult human, then you are given a nonhuman label so that you may be treated as property. It's a classic trend with humanity.
We'll sort it out.
I'd invite him to watch but 30 minutes of the American 24 hour news cycle right now. This isn't reserved for kava drinkers. These are just ignorant people who don't comprehend the seriousness of the situation. It's so far outside of what their mind will allow them to see that they just continue on as usual.
Some of the Tongan kava circles are a disgrace. I've heard of ones with strippers, drugs and worse. In this case the sad part is that the local churches keep this shit going, mainly out of pure greed cuz the kava thing are their side business. The tragic thing is that these people belong to communities full of very vulnerable elderly.
Fortunately most kava drinkers aren't dicks or idiots. I know lots of Fijian, ni-Vanuatu and Pakeha drinkers who organise virtual kava sessions or just enjoy it responsibly at home.
